What does everyone think of Adam Pascal playing Taylor Collins in BKLYN. I just think he has the voice to play the role. Please don't jump on me just a thought and I was curious to see what everyones thoughts on this were.

He's too busy doing something worthwhile, but I'm sure he'd put a little oomph in it.

"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

It would be interesting, and I love seeing Adam do anything. But I agree with MNIL- he's too busy.

You know, the guy who plays Taylor... okay, I'm not sure how to put this. But, feelings for the show itself aside: I feel like he'd be really good at Adam's roles, if he looked a little bit younger; he has that Roger/Radames sort of thing about him... but I envision him playing them kind of the way someone like Will Chase did. It's weird... I feel like there's a portrayal of a role, and then there's Adam's portrayl of that role, and they're totally separate entities... maybe that's just because he's the original. I wrestled with this, because I felt like even though I thought Kevin Anderson would be good for Adam's roles, he didn't necessarily remind me of Adam, and I didn't necessarily feel like the two could be interchangeable. Maybe it's just the man-with-guitar complex that's pushing the similarity here? That also seems like the type-cast idea that Adam says he's trying to get away from.

That said, he's a busy boy right now, anyway.

I don't think there's an "Adam" version of Radames, I mean there is, because everyone's interpretation is different, but after Adam Pascal, the people they've cast are much less "rock" and much more musical theatre or classical. Will Chase is not very rock. Cheyenne Jackson CAN sound rock, but the part isn't really high enough for him to wail. Jeremy Kushnier was pretty rockish in the tour, but I think the reason why most of the Radames don't really measure up is because of the casting. They've done a better job in RENT, because they've got to keep it rock, because the show is supposed to be edgy. AIDA's Disney, it doesn't have to be edgy to sell tickets.

But yeah, he's really busy.

I would've liked to see Jeremy's Radames. He probably gave it a good spin. What I meant wasn't necessarily in terms of vocals; that's sort of a given when you're talking about him, because his voice is so unique. His Radames had a different attitude than I saw anyone else give him; the perfect mix of the proud, self-absorbed captain, and the vulnerable man who gave up everything for love. Even though that mix IS the essence of the character, he just... did it differently. I've been studying all day. My brain is too fried to explain it, without my semblance of an explanation sounding like the giddy rantings of a fangirl in rapture... this board knows it's much more than that. There have been some definite iffy Roger replacements, too, for the record.

I saw Jeremy Kushnier in Aida. And I still miss the beard and the sword. Even though he seems to be known more for his singing his acting was so powerful that I had trouble seeing other actors in the role. The chemistry between Jeremy and Paulette Ivory was amazing.

While I was watching Brooklyn, I thought the actor Kevin Anderson would be a good Roger in RENT. Then I got home, and found out exactly how old he was and felt like a complete idiot. Roger in his mid 40s is not gonna fly.

But as for the topic being discussed, I could see Adam playing Taylor Collins. But as everyone said Adam is very busy right now. And for the reviews that everyone has been giving Brooklyn and the attendance, it doesn't seem like it will be lasting very long. Even though I did like it.
