KIDS NIGHT CONFUSION: COLOR PURPLE or SPELLING BEE?

My aunt and I are having trouble picking a show to see on Kids Night On Broadway. We have brought it down to two choices:

-Color Purple or 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee.

My aunt is no stranger to anything alittle crude. {She loved Avenue Q}, so please help us.

Definitely THE COLOR PURPLE. Such an amazing theatre experience.

As for SPELLING BEE goes. Ugh! I've been going to see shows on Broadway since I was a little kid (7 years old, started in 1972 with the original cast of PIPPIN), and I seem to avoid this show like the plague. Everything about it turns me off. Don't know why, but I have NO interest in seeing it. Enjoyed the Tony Awards performance and heard a few tracks off the cast recording and STILL, it doesn't draw me to it.

Whatever you can get better seats for. I have only seen Spelling Bee off B'way, so I don't know if it is still as enjoyable.

Haven't seen Color Purple, but I doubt some kids will understand Spelling Bee. I mean they'll get the concepts but not the whole plot, etc.

I'd say go with Color Purple, just 'cuz I saw Spelling Bee and thought it was absolutely horrible.
