I think that is what Ryan just said. Right now.
I'll pass. I'm forced to deal with her singing too much as it is.
It was DREADFUL. I don't know why I found myself watching, I never watch Idol. Not only did she sound horrendous but the whole thing was so awkward. Seacrest introduced her as "recording artist Katharine McPhee"... If only she had stuck to that, maybe Smash would have a snowball's chance. Oh and also she was wearing a top that showed half her tummy. I swear that girl isn't comfortable being on television unless 6 inches of her midriff is visible. UGHHHHHHH Smash why did you give her to us

Idol gave her to us. Don't be blaming Smash.
I meant why did Smash take her. Karaoke stages is where she belongs.

I'd like to go on record and state that I didn't even like her when she was on AI. I thought that her belting was strained and that she was a soprano-in-denial.
Aside from her, i thought that band had an interesting sound and I liked the song. There was no need for her to participate whatsoever. You can put makeup and black leather on her, but she's not a rocker. She doesn't even have good posture. She added nothing to the number.
Jane, I definitely noticed her bad posture too; slouched and slumped her whole way through the number.
I guess Iowa was jealous that Krysta always got to be midriff and had to show off hers as well.
I think it's kind of odd that whenever they bring back past Idol contestants or winners to perform, most of them seem less talented than the current contestants. And that isn't to imply that the current contestants are wonderful. That was dull as dirt last night!

I didn't see Idol (not a fan - don't watch it) but I did see a picture of her on a news ticker online this morning.
The first thing I noticed was that she's chopped her hair off. Gone from the long hair to a shag-type do.
That tells me Smash is indeed finished. When a show is continuing production, stars are (more often than not) contracted to not drastically change their look during a hiatus- specifically their often not allowed to cut their hair.
I see it as a strong indication that she's washed her hands of the show.
I've not followed the discussions on Smash - so it may have been formally cancelled for all I know. But if the cancellation has not been confirmed, then this is a strong indicator that it's not going back into production.

Because an American Idol singer with some acting experience is going to draw way more viewers than a stage actor only theater people have ever heard of. I didn't hate her on Idol, I thought her voice was pretty enough. But I can't stand her on Smash. She's completely incapable of emoting.

Or they're writing it in and Karen is changing her Image or some sh*t. Not like Karen has any sense of personhood anyway. I know nothing and suspect the show won't stick around for another season, but I wouldn't read too too much into a haircut.
I was just going to say what Emcee said, re the hair cut. It is not a sure sign the show is cancelled. it CAN be, but my impression of what's going on with Smash, is that Kathryn's character is indeed due for a complete image change.
