LITTLE DOG LAUGHED is not improv, nor can it be compared in that way. HAIRSPRAY is up her alley, but LDL is a completely different level that she would need years of training to get to.
she's be amazing...

No, but improv is one of the foundations of acting, which is why, in my opinion, some of the worlds best actors are comic actors.
But I think she could pull off just about any comedic role in the musical theater or str8 theater canon that she's physically and vocally suited for.
I think she could do a one-woman show, but I imagine it would fare better in LA, as she is more of a child of the West Coast industry. I think she would have to beef it up, make it more confessional, like Margaret Cho's "Im The One That I Want". It would have to be more than Kath bitchin for 90 minutes. Someone posted earlier that Kath doesn't sell well in NYC and I remember on D-list her not selling out in NYC and they comped people to get the house full.
I think Kathy is brilliant and funny, but she would need to think long and hard about a concept prior to undertaking a Broadway show. She might fare better off Broadway, like Sandy did at the Daryl Roth.
Also, I don't think there is a lot of sympathy for Kathy and it could bite her in the butt if she tries to get sentimental like Cho or Bernhard.
If she gets just one more facial surgery she can play Joan Rivers! As it is, she can probably get away playing Melissa...
Bennett, I agree-she needs to take it easy with the surgery. The last promos for D-list she honestly was looking pulled and "drag queen"-ish.
She's way too young to have had so much work done.
And BAD work, to boot.
We used to think that comedians could not act but look at how well Whoopi did in Color Purple (mind you it was a movie) and does anyone remember when Joan Rivers did Neil Simon? She was amazing in that. I saw her and thought she was great.
So why not allow her to do something completely different.
If Sandra Bernhardt (whom I adore--) can do two HUGE one woman shows off broadway, why not have Kathy do something?
I think she is a little to big to do that part in Hairspray. People would be going to a show to see her for a few minutes at a time in a show. I just do not think she would pick it. It would not really be worth her time.
It's Sandra BERNHARD not BERNHARDT. Bernhardt was legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt.
I still think she would be a nice, smug Roxie in Chicago. Then she can say she moved to "The C-List". She's for sure on par with some of the casting choices of the past few years.
Plus...I think she'd be good.
As Roxy?
I see her as Mary Sunshine...no way as Roxy.
I could see her as Prudy. Although Ive said for years that Kerry Kenney (Trudy from Reno 911) would be hysterical.
As for Kathy:
Shed have made a dynamite Belinda in Noises Off or a fabulous Hannigan in Annie. Hell, put her in this godforsaken reality TV Grease bullsh*t as Miss Lynch and I'd actually be interested in seeing it.
In a fair world, Kathy Griffin would be kept in a cage and people would pay a small amount, say a dollar or two, to poke at her with a stick.
Amen.

Whoopi is an Academy Award winning actress. Nothing about Kathy Griffin says Academy Award winning. Unless, that is, if you put her on par with Chris Rock as a past host. Plus, Whoopi and Joan are New Yorkers. People know and respect the work they have done in New York.

It's more than having her do something. You need investors and producers, and most importantly, enough of an audience willing to pay full price to fill a Broadway theater to see this.
I love Kathy, but I don't know how well she would do on Broadway. I wouldn't mind finding out though!
I think Kathy is one funny chick, but I can't see her on Broadway...
