But honestly, I don't care about mass audiences, IdinaBellFoster. I just want an entertaining show that theatre lovers would enjoy. I mean, if the show needs to go on PBS, let it go on PBS. Maybe we could put it back in a Broadway theatre that way?

If CBS were to stop carrying the Tonys, though, that doesn't mean they would automatically be shown on PBS, does it?

Who would Kathy Griffin bring in that Robin Williams wouldn't? The gays are already going to be watching the Tonys anyway, regardless of who hosts it! Robin Williams brings in a more mainstream audience that actually has a chance to be influenced in their ticket buying by the shows that they see on the broadcast.

Why not? The bulk of her career has been about disrespect. She'd likely make a mockery of the show. I also don't think she will bring in the droves of viewers some of you think she will. She has a devoted but rather small following.

I would prefer that someone with closer Broadway ties do the honors, and a week-long stint on Broadway doesn't fill that bill for me. I also don't get the sense that she loves Broadway - something that I think should be a pre-requisite for a host - just that she wanted to do it because she hadn't before.
