She has the most amazing tone and belt that I have ever had the pleasure of hearing...she could DOMINATE the role of Elphaba. Her mix/belt is a force to be reckoned with! Not only could she sing the S*** out of the role Eva but she has the acting and dancing chops to back it up, she's easily compared to Shoshana or Eden.
Sorry, there is no way she could belt those high notes. She couldn't belt above a middle C on the EVITA tour.
Could you add a question mark to your subject header? It'd be much clearer that way.
After touring POTO for years i think she can handle belting a couple F's and G's. She is such an underrated talent that deserves more acclaim!
Poto is all opera...she couldn't handle the Evita score.

Maybe she was having an off night when you saw her
POTO is a rock opera.
I'm not saying she doesn't have a nice voice, Broadway, but she doesn't have the pop rock voice to carry the Elphaba music the way it was meant to be sung.
She was the most soprano EVITA I have ever heard, and frankly it was a real disappointment hearing her flip into her head voice on notes that LuPone and Paige belted full force. I sure wouldn't want to hear her sing Elphaba like that.

i love kathy voytko and her husband john...
i haven't actually heard kathy sing..so i have no opinion of this. i heard she acted Evita BEAUTIFULLY...
as far as POTO goes..its a legit pop opera...but christines part is much more legit than pop rock that is required of Elphaba.....
but who cares what i think! its my birthday, so don't anyone yell at me or i will cry! LOL

I saw her EVITA, and was, sadly, underwhelmed.

I saw her as Evita and she was hitting pretty much everything dead-on in belt/strong mix. My friends saw it about a week later and said that her voice wasn't up to snuff.
From this, I am gathering that her vocals, while they can be amazing, are pretty inconsistent.
I think she has more of a Julia Murney type voice and she has that acting depth that none of the past Elphabas have had..she's a prize in my book.

My head hurts at the thought.
I saw her as Evita. Her perfomance was fine, but there were times where her voice got extremely shrill (right about where she flipped from chest to head voice). She'd be doing a lot of that as Elphaba, so I'll pass.

I guess it WOULD be nice to have an Elphaba who can act.
I joke.

I enjoyed her Evita. Although she has performed in Chicago, I really do not know how she would be in the role!
Both Stephanie Block and Julia Murney were both wonderful in the acting and vocal departments when playing Elphaba.
Victoria Matlock was on tour with her in Evita and she is now the new standby for Elphaba...I think Kathy would dominate and this is just the role to show off her amazing belt.

Doesn't matter. She's going into new show in Chicago at Marriot Lincolnshire called Once Upon a Time in New Jersey. She's the lead, Angie. Check it out.
I agree, she would make an amazing Mary Poppins and any character in The Light in the Piazza. Broadway is desperately in need of her.

I am sorry, but I don't know much about Kathy Voytko...what exactly has she performed in?
I saw her in EVITA in Boston and I was not impressed.
