Very exciting! Just grabbed a ticket in the nosebleeds. Better than nothing, right?
I've never seen a show at City Center, but will be booking my tickets as soon as possible. I hear it's a barn. If I have the choice between rear mezz and rear balcony, is it worth it at all to pay for the mezz? How bad is the balcony, truly?
The balcony is actually much better than the rear mezz. It's high, but you'll have a great view. The rear mezz is almost flat, and the balcony overhang is so low, that you'll barely be able to see the stage between everyone's heads. If you have the option, definitely go balcony.
The front gallery isn't bad at all (and much better than the rear mezz). However, the rear gallery is simply atrocious- not only are you high up, but you have a horrendous view that is obstructed by a bar. Additionally, the only way to see the front of the stage is by leaning forward, which is of course quite rude.
^ Agreed. The rear gallery is UNDOUBTEDLY the worst section of ANY theater I've ever sat in. They should pay people to sit up there. Have they renovated it yet?

I sat in the first row of the rear mezz for The Wiz, and it was a perfect seat. I only missed the very edge of the stage.
I've sat in the first row of the rear mezz for a couple of things and it's great but further back in the rear mezz can be dicey because of the balcony overhang. Unless you can get first row rear mezz I'd say go for front balcony instead.
Thanks for all the input. I went with rear mezz and ended up in row M. Hopefully it's not too bad! Apologies for thread-jacking away from the actual news!
