Aw, I expected more from Ebersole. That last goodbyeeeeeeee, was glorious, though.
Elena Roger, ych. She's no Patti LuPone.
Groban...ouch.

Did we all catch that wave?
Glad to see Mrs. Potiphar was in the audience.

Now if only someone could have found her a dress that was a bit more flattering!
And why does he look like he's continually chewing something??

Why bring out Sarah Brightman just to sing one verse? Either make it a duet or give it to Buckley!
And I saw Betty sing that song LIVE just a year ago and it was better than what came out tonight. But still - WOW!

Agreed.
I still cannot get over how extraordinary Ebersole's performance was.

Posted: 12/26/06 at 10:05pmUgh, I missed Ebersole and Rogers - but I thought Josh's performance was much better than Betty. Yes she's a legend now, but that was too shrill for me. And Josh's song didn't fit his voice and he handled it well. She's been singing that song for about 20 years now so there is an advantage there.

I love my Ebersole. Love her, love her, love her!!!!!!! FEBRUARY 24 is too far away!
Poor Josh. Great voice, but that face on the A flat was priceles.
Emily, you sing the song half as well as Elena did after being flipped and thrown about by 5 guys. I'd like to see Patti touch THAT.
I really like Betty, but she was not on tonight.
ALW was such a jerk though. During everyone else's tributes, he looked bored and listless. Then, it was his turn and he started jumping up and down. Just don't think that's good etiquette.

Her performance was very good...but I don't think it was anything remarkable.

Ebersole gave me chills.
Elena Roger looks wonderful, and I hope she comes to Broadway with her Evita.
Groban...I expected more from him. The song is for a tenor, but many baritones have sung it effectively...he just tried to be too powerful with the high notes, where most baritones who play the role opt for it to be less BANG because of their falsettos.
Buckley was okay...she seemed a little uncomfortable.
But all together...despite some quibs...I thought it was a brilliant showcase, very inspiring and moving.

I guess no one is going to inform us late-comers what Ebersole sang.
Side note: I guess we haven't found a way to fast-forward live television yet. Skip Dolly, bring on Spielberg.

Posted: 12/26/06 at 10:13pmI thought Rogers was breathtaking, just some really top "star quality". Groban, no. Ebersole was amazing, but I still prefer Elaine Paige. Betty Buckley started off weak but really nailed it in the end.

Josh was good, not Ebersole good, but who is?
I didn't like the Evita section. Her voice was crazy.
