Branagh gave some details on the film at the D23 Expo. He promises it will be faithful to the original material and will try to honor the beloved animated classic as much as he can.
'Cinderella': Director Kenneth Branagh previews his plan for the classic fairy tale at Disney's D23
I've always wanted to see a version where the Prince goes out, trying the shoe on the girls of the village and the shoe fits someone else. Because you know Cindy's not the only one with a certain sized foot.
Tell the story of Cinderella's NOT so happily ever after, from her point of view...
And then Cinderella and the other woman could have the best female fight scene since.... I guess KILL BILL.
Diva--Love the way you think--I have always questioned Cindys' shoe size.

I know Disney has its own original version of Cinderella, but the discussion about staying true to the "original" reminds me of Santino Fontana's amusing rant about there not being an original version of Cinderella when some of the R+H Cinderella cast visited Google.
(I've linked directly to that part in the video, but the entire thing is interesting and entertaining with a couple of performances and Q+A)

Here is some concept art that was revealed at D23.
Walt Disney Studios reveal live action films at 2013 D23 Expo: Marvel, Maleficent, Tomorrowland, Muppets, Saving Mr Banks
I really, really like the concept art. It sends a message that it's a darker or "rawer" version of the tale. I hope they keep it for promotion in the future.

When Mark Romanek had originally been attached to direct the film, his version was going to be DARK. But Disney did not want to take that route. So, Romanek exited the film.

(sigh) That's Disney for you. Thanks for the article, I didn't know about him. I wonder what his visions were for the film.

The first shot looks very promising. I wish this was a full out musical though, but I don't know if the animated films songs would transition to live action well.
Unlike what Santino Fontana said, there are original versions of Cinderella. The first written word versions. But anyway, when they said they will follow the original version they meant the French Charles Perrault version that originally came up with the fairy godmother, pumpkin, mice, and glass slippers.
