King & I or Kinky Boots

If anyone near Costa Mesa. I'm trying to pick one of two shows to see with a relative in February at Segerstrom Center. The two choices are Kinky Boots or the King & I. I like both movies equally and the stage versions look good and worth the Tony wins. Tough to pick. Can someone help

King and I. It's pure magic on stage, and Laura Michelle Kelly is on par with Kelli O'Hara for sheer acting talent. Plus the actual production is beautiful all around.

Well I'm seeing King & I maybe regardless of who's onstage. I'm still getting over the disappointment that PBS didn't film the show at Lincoln Center.

Definitely the King and I.

King & I or Kinky Boots

The King and I, no question.

I love Kinky Boots but the current non equity tour is not that great while the current King and I tour is gorgeous. Go for King and I for sure.

The last time I saw a non-equity tour was the new Rent 20th anniversary. And the cast was sensational

^I was very underwhelmed by the Lola on the tour although the Charlie is fantastic, but I didn't like the Lola at all. I saw a wonderful non equity tour of Once a few years ago, but they had the full set that the equity tour had whereas the non equity tour of Kinky Boots has a watered down and cheap looking set.

Well I normally would like to see the original sets and costumes if possible. Kinky Boots looks good but I may want to see Jerry Mitchell's work in On Your Feet.

I really never undersatnd questions like this.

It's like reading Tripadviser and by the end I never want to go anywhere.

Make up your own mind [if you are an adult] and these 2 shows couldn't be more different--you've got a frustrated spinster[of sorts] and a confused male with a shoe fetish.

Me--I'm so over R&H. I want a show where I can have a good time and totally forget when I leave the theatre.

There-------did that help?

King & I or Kinky Boots

Didn't help and I'll not want to forget what I saw for myself at the end of the night.

Kinky Boots. Without a doubt. You can see the King and I anytime, it's always being done. Kinky Boots is more entertaining in my opinion.

King & I or Kinky Boots

Well to be quite fair I'm more desperate to see King & I. Since I saw a shortened student maiteee presented by Musical Theatre West back in middle school 12 years ago. I want to see this classic performed in it's original splendor but with 2010's up to date theatricality. That's why I'm considering the Lincoln Center production no matter who plays the two leads.

If you were being "quite fair," you wouldn't waste people's time with a question that it is evident you have already answered.

I'm sorry but it depends on my schedule and my aunt's. We haven't figured it out yet and I just needed help from people who go to theatre more often than I do.

BwayLB, I saw On Your Feet in Orlando on Wednesday. It was very good. It was great to view a show on it's first tour. Usually when a show comes to my city, Jacksonville, it's a few years down the line.

^ That sounds cool. I'm not a big Gloria Estefan fan but my mom and I have been waiting a while for this. I would go for a nostalgic soundtrack and possibly spectacular dancing. Plus I loved Jerry Mitchell's choreography on Hairspray growing up.
