Has anybody seen this yet?

The city I live in loves to bring in non-equity shows and this is one that they're considering.

I saw the show in London back in June but I didn't have a terribly good seat so I'm thinking of seeing it again.

Is it any good? What are some differences from the last tour?

Bumping this since we're a few weeks into the tour now.

Has anyone seen it yet?

I know a bunch of people who saw it while it was close to the city. All came back raving saying it was fantastic and that the Charlie is one of the best to sing the score ever. The only difference is that there aren't children anymore so Mr. Price sings the beginning line to adult Charlie and Nicola sings young Lola's "don't you go anywhere cause you belong to me." The set is the same except there are true wings now instead of the factor walls. All costumes are the same and angels are on FIRE. Enjoy!

I never really understood the point of having the kids anyway. It seems like a case of "the movie did it so we have to do it."

I saw it in Philly and was impressed. I was disappointed not to have the kids though, I think they add a great deal (especially young Lola). I thought the woman playing Lauren was particularly impressive. Overall the cast was great, and I was happy that it didn't feel "cheapened" even though it was non-equity.

Wait. Hold on. They cut the kids out? How does it start now?

^Someone above explained but Mr. Price enters and Adult Charlie comes on and the whole section that is usually done with the Young Charlie is now done with Adult Charlie. They completely cut the portion with Young Lola and gave portions of his lyrics "Don't you go anywhere, cause you belong to me" and "Feels like I'm dancing" to Nicola. The thing that makes cutting this super confusing is they still include the part at the end when they're reunited with their fathers but we have never seen the younger version of Lola's dad.

I saw the tour in Philly while it was here and while the Charlie was very impressive and had a wonderful voice and acted the heck out of the role and the ensemble was wonderful (including those fierce as heck Angels) the rest left much to be desired. I did not like the Lola at all - vocally he lacked the power and passion I've seen from other Lolas and his acting left much to be desired as I didn't take him seriously or believe him in the role. The girl playing Lauren was very good and I really enjoyed her History of Wrong Guys - she reminded me a lot of Ali Mauzey. The sets looked very cheap, but given it's a non Equity tour that isn't surprising I suppose.
