I am looking to see Kinky Boots this Saturday, and seeing as I probably won't get lottery (and the lottery view supposedly isn't the best), I was wondering what time the SRO tickets go on sale- when the box office opens or after lottery? And when I should be lining up for either of those times.
Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

SRO goes on sale when the box office opens, assuming the show is sold out. Last week, I got there just after 9 on a Wednesday and tickets were still available for both shows.
There are only 11 SRO spots per show though.
Thanks, that is awesome! I would rather do standing room then screw up my schedule trying the Lottery five times.
This is a bit off topic but is Matilda still doing standing room? It says on Playbill that they are but I believe I read on here that they stopped.

Broadwaydevil: just to clarify-so tickets were still available for the matinee and the evening shows on Wednesday, so they did not sell SRO when the box office opened at 10?
No, they sell for both performances at 10. Sorry, I meant I got online a little after 9 AM and when I got to the box office window, there were still SRO spots for both shows (not other seats - sorry for the confusion!)

No worries-thank you for the response!
One last question-was there a line when you got to the box office at 9,and if so, how long was it?
Yup, there were maybe five people in front of me. The line forms outside the outside window of the box office and moved west.

Answering my own question for the rest of you wondering! I went in yesterday at about 9:30, fully expecting to not get these SRO tickets. I got in line and they ran out of SRO two people in front of me. The lottery wasn't as crowded as many others, maybe 75 people? I ended up pairing up with a lottery buddy and won tickets for the night performance. But for SRO, I would say get there about 9 and you should be fine!

There are a maximum of 11 SRO tickets but sometimes there are less ( today there were only 10 ). Also, since each person is able to get a couple of tickets only the first 5 people in line are guaranteed 2 tickets assuming there are at least 10 on offer that day.
Sorry to bump, but I have a few quick questions.
1) Is KB as strict as Pippin (they won't sell until EVERY single ticket is sold--even the $300 premium singles) or more relaxed like Newsies (who sold us two SRO even though there was a handful (like 6) singles left?)
2) I have a group of 4 and we need 4 tickets. So if two of us stand in line for half an hour, and then the other two switch out, is that ok, and then switch back, and then again, that would be okay? We would still need the same number of tickets and we would make that very clear.
Thank you in advanced!
To answer 2:
Personally, I don't like line savers (even though the same number of tickets will be bought), but most people here are fine with switching out. Just make it clear to the people behind you that you aren't cutting and are still looking for the original 4 tickets...not 8.
The reason I don't like line savers is because they're like seat savers. Why should someone be entitled to something that they couldn't find the time to obtain earlier and have someone else temporarily "save"' for them? But again, that's my unpopular opinion. That's why I'd just make clear your intentions to those around you so someone doesn't assume he or she is being cheated out of a ticket.
yeah, sadly the Hirschfeld doesn't have a lot of SRO unlike some other theaters. Hair & How To Succeed had the same amount I believe.
I'm bumping this up because a friend would like to see Kinky Boots via standing room. Does anyone know how it's been lately? Also, if I look at Telecharge for the day I want to go, is that really an accurate depiction of how many seats are left? Some people have said that in general, some seats can be marked as sold on the chart and then released for sale later on. Thanks for any info!
I went last friday at 6:30pm and got a SRO for the evening. They were also selling partial view for a discounted $99. The SRO was one of my least favorite experiences because the banister/rail in front of you is only like 4.5 feet high, so you can't lean on it very well. I had to stand straight up the entire show, which was really uncomfortable.
