I caught it last night - was a solid production - a 7/10 compared to the other Hollywood Bowl musicals I've seen the past decade.
Wayne Brady was spectacular, I was genuinely so impressed not only with his vocals and movement, but especially with his acting which caught every bit of Lola's arc.
Jake Shears unfortunately was the weak link of the night - his acting was okay but he just doesn't have the right vocal range for Charlie. He can't belt in his higher register so not only was everything brought an octave down, but his voice broke a few times. There are so many talented vocalists who could have done wonders with this role, so that was a disappointment.
Kelly Marie Tran was a delight - incredibly funny and great vocals.
The rest of the production was quite good with the only other issue being sound mixing - there were mic issues especially with the actor playing Don and the orchestra sound cut out a few times during the show.
Definitely worth checking out if you're in LA right now.

I was there tonight. It was like the 3rd bus and truck company made a stop at the Bowl. Same show you have seen everywhere else. Nothing creatively new. Wayne Brady was excellent. Jake Shears was a bit of a vocal mess. And no charisma. Lots of sound issues and screachingly over-amplified.

Not sure why Shears was brought back for this production. He was terrible on Broadway and frequently missed shows.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Wayne was a real surprise, but honestly the highlight was Kelly Marie Tran and I hope it is not long before she is in another show, charming, goofy and she has a VOICE
meanwhile Jake Shears...awful...it was painful at time...would have been really cool if they had gotten Brandon Urie to come back

Just spent the morning watching some videos of this. Why on earth did they ask Shears to do this again? Was nobody else available? David Cook? Anyone else that did the Broadway production or tour? The bonus from doing this at the Hollywood Bowl is using 8 Angels.
