Good for them! Hopefully that means their ticket sales are already promising!

(May release scheduled.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

With Daryl Roth behind this, believe me this was always getting recorded, no matter what.

"With Daryl Roth behind this, believe me this was always getting recorded, no matter what."

That's actually surprisingly very true. Bunnicula also went into the recording studio not too long ago, and I can only assume she's behind that album as well as Theatreworks is certainly not in a place where they can afford to fund a cast album (for the record the cast recording of their Seussical was largely funded by Flaherty and Ahrens themselves).

Just like the old days when show opened with a cast album contract in place. Often the Posters and Playbills included a plug "Original cast album on (X RECORDS). The recordings didn't always happen when the shows flopped...RCA Victor was supposed to record FOXY but David Merrick apparently persuaded them that it would be a lost cause.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
