Kiss Me Kate revival

Would anybody else like to see a Kiss Me, Kate revival? I've been listening to the cast recording of the most recent revival today and was thinking perhaps Sara Ramirez could get herself back to Broadway to play Lilli?

Kiss Me Kate revival

It's a great show but it doesn't need another revival so close to the last one (which was perfect). Revive something that hasn't been done for a while.

Kiss Me Kate revival

It does seem recent, but it was 13 years ago.

There's one in London at the moment is there not, with Hannah Waddingham? Funny you should mention Ramirez, since both actors played the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot... I think Ashley Brown or Rebecca Luker would also be ideal for Lilli.

^ And what a fantastic production it is! Hands down one of the best productions I have ever seen

Rebecca Luker seems a bit far gone now, she's the same age as Mazzie and Carolee (who played the role a decade ago, as already pointed out) and she's a decade older than Rachel York.

I'd suggest Emily Skinner, Andrea Burns or Megan Hilty.

I really like the Sara Ramirez suggestion but I doubt she'd do it.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

I don't know about Ashley Brown for Lilli, but she would ankle a great Lois. As would Sierra Boggess - I don't think she's done musical comedy as this level. I think Megan Hilty is a great choice for Lilli and I'd love John Barrowman to debut on (or return to?) Broadway as Frederick and Matthew Morrison as Bill.

Kiss Me Kate revival

I'm not chomping at the bit for a new production, mostly because the last one was so perfect (and had a more than respectable run, 2+ years). If it were to be revived, I'd love to see Marc Kudisch as Fred and Emily Skinner as Lili.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Kiss Me Kate revival

The last one was so wonderful I would hate to see another one because I would be afraid they would ruin it like the last revival of "Guys and Dolls". This was the first Broadway show my wife and I took our daughters to and they are now Broadway geeks - lol.

I would love to see KMK revided but ONLY WITH THE ORIGINAL SCRIPT.

A Tony award winner (The first such musical) and it is never done as written. I could understand this if it were a failed or flawed show but the original script and score are just fine. Changing the character of Lili's stuffy fiancee doesn't add anything of value to the property and with e score filled with evergreens there is absolutely no need to shoe-horn "From This Moment On" into the show. It doesn't fit, having been written originally a year later for OUT OF THIS WORLD, and cut out-of-town.

Bring back the original Overture (cutting off with Fred walking down the aisle assuring the conductor the the proposed cut works and should be kept.)

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

How was Carolee in the role??

Didn't she lead the cast in cutting their own pay so that the show could afford to stay open after 9/11 ?

Funny you bring this up. Today my YouTube obsession was Penn State's Too Darn Hot video from their show, directed/choreo by Stephen Brotebeck. Talented cast, definitely check it out.
