Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

Disclaimer: I searched the threads, couldn't find one on this topic.

So, Kristin's West Wing cast bio says "Chenoweth’s next album will be released next year from Sony. The CD will be a country music album with a slant towards inspirational songs."

Now, I don't mind country music. In fact, I love Martina McBride and love her voice. Faith Hill too. But Cheno singing country? I never thought I'd see/hear that! Am I the only one that things it is a bit odd? Thoughts anyone?

It's just the next step in her evil plot to take over the world, one entertainment genre at a time...

Wow. Country and inspirational... 2 of the worst genres I could possibly fathom in music. Tough time to be a Kristin fan... bleh.

As much as I love Let Yourself Go, country/inspirational is not my favorite genre. At all. If I listen to country at all, it's Patsy Cline, and "Walkin' After Midnight" isn't inspirational so much as depressing.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

She sang a couple songs from the new album at her Carnegie Hall concert in September and it sounds like it'll be great to me. And, as someone pointed out, she's from the Midwest, so it doesn't seem that surprising that there's a country influence to her new music.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

I actually thought that she would be a good country singer when I heard her sing Popular. The song has a country feel to it. Thats my two cents.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

I think a lot of country singers could fare well in musicals because they tend to have better talent than "those pop people." And I don't know if the cd will at all be good or not, but my point is that i'd be a sucker for the cd regardless, just b/c is KC. It will be interesting whatever the outcome, that's for sure. I don't know if there are a lot of Broadway turned Country folk out there! Are there? Now there's a new thread....jk.

Reba and Gary Morris did do the country turned Bway. Hats off to them for that!

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

Because when I think of country music, I think of Dolly, Reba, Patsy and Cheno.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

She's a Rebpublican Christian from Oklahoma....why does this surprise anyone?

(Not to disparage those things--well at least not the latter two--but she does fit right into the Country music demographic.)

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

She did sing some "inspirational" countryish songs at Carnegie Hall, and they were just not my cup of tea. She has a good country voice, and believe me I LOVE country. But I like my Kristin Chenoweth to sing showtunes. She can rejoice in God all she likes, and Viva la Country but I won't be putting her next CD into my ears.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

Indeed she is amazing. Can't wait for her movies either! Why did it take so long. And why does Audra refuse to do movies? This is something that needs to be addressed.

re: Kristin Chenoweth doing a COUNTRY CD?

Audra did sing in one movie...a wedding movie...which was it again?

Anyway, back on topic, yep, I guess Kristin is taking over the world. Please KC, just don't go into bubble gum pop! (I think it mentions in her West Wing bio that she can also do that too haha)
