I've seen both Kristin and Jennifer, and while I did enjoy Kristin, I think Jennifer gives the better performance. The lines of "For Good" say it all..."I have been changed for good"...in my opinion, Glinda *must* change and develop over the course of the show. She grows and matures and learns things about herself that she never could've before meeting Elphaba. With Kristin, I felt as though I was seeing the same G(a)linda throughout the entire show, just a little toned down. Jennifer's character development throughout the show is spectacular...her voice deepens, her mannerisms change, her entire demeanor becomes more regal and authoritative. That, in my opinion, is how Glinda should be in the second act.

Also, Jennifer's "Popular" puts Kristin's to shame. And I *loved* Kristin's version.

hmm lots of different opinions here. But I'm sticking with my cheno.

My vote goes towards Kristen. I liked JLT from Urinetown so I saw her first performance in Wicked and I walked away thinking, wow, that's a new take on Glinda and I really appreciated the difference. There was literally NOTHING to compare. She and Kristen were two different people. But when I went back to see Shoshana, JLT had turned into a copy of Kristen Chenoweth. 100% originality JLT had when she first started---Now, not so much. I still love her and think she does a wonderful job with Gilnda but she's played two different Glinda's and I liked the first one more.

Hmm. Like I said before, I'm a Cheno fan who used Wicked (all 4 times seeing it) and the cast recording as nothing but a Cheno vehicle, something that I could listen to/see just for her. Otherwise, I don't even enjoy it or care for it, so I won't see it again, and will never see JLT in the role.

My only exposure to JLT-as-Glinda was when she and Idina performed "For Good" on The View and it literally put me to sleep. I found it lacking the passion and beautiful chemistry that had me in tears all four times I saw Kristin and Idina perform it... which led me to believe that Idina and JLT don't have the brilliant chemistry that Kristin and Idina had (the only other thing that made me enjoy Wicked, as a fan of the Maguire book). Can anyone who's seen JLT in the role AND who also saw her and Idina on The View that day confirm whether or not this just happened to be a bad performance?

And, also, never having seen JLT do "Thank Goodness," but being so moved by Kristin's performance of the "There's a kind of a sort of... cost," part, I would really be interested in seeing how JLT did that better. But alas, I probably never will.

I have to disagree about your take on their performance on "The View." I didn't like how the song was cut, but I thought they did a lovely job. I think Idina and JLT have great chemistry, with JLT adding things that Kristin didn't add, it keeps it fresh and it makes Idina laugh. As for "Thank Goodness," JLT does it with more feeling, in my opinion. She seems to have more emotion, she's truly hurt while singing, something that I didn't feel Kristin was doing during that piece. Again, this is just my opinion.

Re: why Kristin was cast in pre-B'way and B'way- Stephen Schwartz said he wrote the part for her.

Loved Cheno as Glinda, but can't wait to see JLT.

Since you haven't seen Kristin, you can't truly say she doesn't play a good dumb blonde. I have seen both, and although they both play it different in some ways, they are both equally enjoyable. If you go to Broadway.com and see the videos they have of wicked, even though they are brief, you might just catch a glimpse of what Kristin was capable of doing on stage. Remember, Cast recordings are different, because you don't get their full acting abilities.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

This probably shouldn't be a factor, but it was for me------I found JLT's height to be a little distracting. I saw KC the first time --- and loved her performance. It was very good vocally and her comedic timing was flawless. I then saw JLT's performance and vocally, she's even a bit stronger than KC, but
for some reason, her height seemed to keep reminding me that she wasn't KC and I felt a little disappointed. Just me, I'm sure.

I havent seen Kristin but i have seen clips of her. I only saw the show with JLT. So heres MY review (if you want to call it that...)

1.I love the way Kristin sang For Good on the cast recording so the first time i saw a friends tape from The View i thought JLT sounded weird because it was just different. But now i see that she has an amazing voice and they are both great in their own way.

2.JLT was histerically funny. I've seen clips of Kristin and she was also funny. I guess its just a matter of what you've seen and what you like.

3.JLT really knows how to play the role of "dumb blonde". I'm not sure about Kristin but im sure she can as well.

4. I think I like Kristin's voice better but JLT has a beautiful voice too.

5.So I guess i can say I love them Both depending on what I've seen and heard. They are both awesoem Glindas.

I LOVE SHOSHANA BEAN.

JLT!! She's amazing. Not saying KC wasn't, but if JLT started in the show, every1 would probably saying her right now because people believe just because you start in the show, your better. It doesn't make a diff. I have some clips of JLT in Wicked, so PM me if you would like to hear them.
