Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth will be the special guest performer at La Jolla Playhouse's 2005 Gala Oct. 29, which is titled A Night of Illusion. The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 6 PM, followed by the 7:30 PM dinner and the 8:30 PM concert at the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre in the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center. Dessert and dancing will follow. About the upcoming evening, Des McAnuff, artistic director of the California Playhouse, said in a statement, "Having Kristin Chenoweth perform for us is an incredible honor. Our patrons are sure to find her a real treat — one more delightful part of a night of mysticism and magic." After reading the description again, it sounds expensive... Dgrant, if you find out anything let us know.

I have the brochure at home. I believe tickets to the concert start at $125 each. I'll check and post to this message later.

I agree that it's pricey but $125 is definitely reasonable for cocktails, show, dessert, and after show dance.... pretty cool!

Just to point out the cocktails aren't included for the $125. This is a fund raiser. I'm pretty sure it's a "no host" bar.

Also, I'm pretty sure that's a standing room only ticket to see Kristin C. The "gallery" in that theatre is the upstairs portion which normally seats only about 60 or 70, so I'm betting that they do it standing room as all the seats are re/moveable in what's essentially a big black box type theatre.

So I'd say if you really wanted to enjoy yourself you'd need to purchase the $250 tickets (which includes dinner with wine).

I wish my pocketbook could afford it, but I'm saving for Italy next year.

I have Chita tickets next week on Saturday night. I'll post a review after that. Also, they just extended Chita for the second time to November 6th.
