Good for Kyle!
Wow, what a shocker.
At least now it's official.
Congrats to Kyle! Hope he has a nice long run to look forward to!

Does anyone know why he's leaving? He's really only done the role like 4-5 months total.

Aaron Tveit leave of absence the Tony-nominated musical Next to Normal on January 4 and the role of Gabe will be performed by Kyle Dean Massey.
Methinks there is something missing in that sentence. English please?
He was always leaving earlier than everyone else. (and he played it longer than that if you look at all the different runs: off b'way, Washington)
Perhaps things are moving forward with Catch Me If You Can, maybe more filming of GG came up (I don't watch...so I know nothing of how things were left). Maybe they got tired of him taking time off.

Trombonist-
yeah, that makes me wonder- is this another leave of absence or is he really leaving? P.s. I play tbone too, haha.

Cool!
Yeah...I think they need "is taking" or something like that in the first sentence. I get that he's taking one, but it doesn't read well.
Well, it SHOULD read:
Aaron Tveit takes a leave of absence from the Tony-nominated musical Next to Normal on January 4th.

To the best of my knowledge, this is not a leave of absence. There are no official plans for Aaron to return to the production.
Also, I don't believe he has any immediate commitments, though Catch Me If You Can is still in the works. Poor guy probably wants some time off - he's been pretty busy for a while.

I think they just tried to use the same article as last time but left that in there- cuz I think he's leaving n2n for good, not just taking an LOA.

I'm glad that Kyle Dean Massey is taking over. He was excellent.
I hope the show has a long run.
My friend is so sad about this. She is a really big fan of Aaron Tveit and she's travelling from the Netherlands to NY on January 4th to see some shows, including Next to Normal. So now she won't be able to see Aaron. I've heard some good things about Kyle, though. I wish him the best of luck in this role!
Well, aren't they screening Howl at Sundance? So I imagine he'd be going out there for that, which is mid-January.
^That's exactly what someone on ATC said. It makes sense.
I think Catch Me is still on track for the fall of 2010.
It was the first thing that came to mind when I heard he was leaving in January.
even though I heard about this as a rumor a week ago, I am really crushed that he won't be there. I have plans to visit New York and see N2N at the end of January. I was thinking this was going to be the highlight of my trip. Now, well, I don't know. I saw videos of Kyle on youtube and I didn't really care for him that much. Lovely.
I saw Kyle twice and I didn't care much for him but he isn't bad. Definitely don't be disappointed that Aaron isn't there, the show is still fantastic without him and the other performances are wonderful.
Congrats to Kyle! And hopefully Aaron finds the success he deserves after Next to Normal!
I am happy for Kyle, as I saw him and loved him, but I was hoping to make it back to the show to see Aaron. Now I realize that will never be.

I'm one of the few people that like Kyle a lot better than Aaron. Youtube is no way to judge anyone's performance IMO.

You know, I was quite a fan of Aaron, and I still think he's incredibly talented, but I think Kyle Dean is better for the role of Gabe at this point. Aaron just seems like he's outgrown it - I hope he has an amazing career, but I'm not sad that he's leaving this role. Kyle Dean is great - he came a long way over the summer and I think he'll only get better now that the role's all his.
I saw Kyle, no he's not bad at all (though I do have to say I felt like he looked way too old), but I severely missed Aaron when I saw Kyle...and I missed both Aaron and Kyle when I saw Tim.

^ I think that Aaron looks too old. If Jessica is on as Diana then she looks too young...lol.
