Happy opening to the men and women of LA BÊTE!
"Tony Award winner Mark Rylance (Boeing-Boeing, Jerusalem) stars as the obliviously base street clown Volere, opposite Tony winner David Hyde Pierce (Curtains, Spamalot) as the uncompromising highbrow playwright Elomire (an anagram for Molière) and BAFTA winner Joanna Lumley ("Absolutely Fabulous"), who makes her Broadway debut as the imperious princess who forces the two men to align in this beastly intersection between art and populism."

Who was the poster that use to always put up the first notice of a show's opening. His original post were always kind of poetic, informative and thoughtful.
Don't want to start a brawl-here!
I think it's mostly the awesome LimelightMike (his review thread is already up)handling the review thread chores now. But the wonderful Margo Channing I believe used to start review threads. Insightful, eloquent, amazingly knowledgable...love and miss him.
Margo did indeed use to start the review threads. I miss him too.

Break a leg to the cast and crew! I was one who loved this show and would love to see it get great reviews! (I hope that doesn't sound like I think that the people who didn't like it are wishing bad reviews on it, I didn't mean it that way...)
I loved the performances in London, wasn't convinced about all the material - so I'm really interested to see what the reviews over your side of the pond say.
I'm going to the opening tonight. I'm really looking forward to seeing the show.
...also going to tonight's opening ..... I know a lot of people who didn't like it the first time around, so curious as to how this will be.
I also loved the performances in the recent London production but somehow I can't see the NY critics handing out rave reviews. I thought it lost a bit of momentum in 'the play within a play' section, though I think it may have been re-tooled slightly for the transfer. Either way it will be interesting to gauge what the word-of-mouth is...

Yeah, it was interesting to watch the highlights reel for it, which was obviously filmed in London. Many differences just in that.
I'm not good with doing reviews so I won't bother but I did enjoy the show and I laughed a lot. The crowd also seemed to really enjoy it, the cheering at the end of the show was extremely loud. That being said, the three people to my right didn't seem like they were enjoying it whatsoever and they didn't even clap at the end but 2 out of the 3 of them also pulled their cell phones out several times during the show until they were asked to stop by people around them.
on a side fun note I ended up walking out of the theatre next to Angela Lansbury
I definitely recommend the show. It's worth it to just to see Mark Rylance. His performance is amazing. I don't know how the hell he can remember all those words.
