I saw NC Theatre's production of BEAUTY & THE BEAST in Raleigh, NC last night. An OK show. Score and performances very good, I don't like the adaptation. And the costumes and set were not up to par, since BEAST is an expensive show, they had to make some sacrifices I am sure.
But Lauren Kennedy starred as "Belle" and her husband, Alan Campbell as "Beast." Also in the cast were Jeanna Lehman as "Mrs. Potts," Gregg Goodbrod as "Gaston," Jessica Leigh Brown, and SIX FEET UNDER'S Tim Maculan.
In the bio of Lauren Kennedy, it states:
"Lauren can be heard on the cast albums of Frank Wildhorn's DRACULA (soon to be released), The Ten Commandments (coming soon, DVD and CD), ..."
I'd think everyone related to that show would want to block it out of their minds.
Oh God. There's proof that show existed.
I've seen better high school productions than that show!
LOL!!
I really like Lauren Kennedy, so I'll probably buy the CD... (ducking and running back to her cubicle to hide)
Oh Evie, don't run and hide. You have a valid reason for buying it ... just wear dark sunglasses when you go to purchase it, and be like a super spy about it. Then no harm will come to you.
Alan Campbell as the beast??? hotness.
and yay for the Dracula CD!
10 Commandments gets preserved & The Fantastics & others do not ?

Whatever, more LK for me.
I guess I'm going to need sunglasses, too.

Oh...my...god...
I know I'm in the minority, but I thought the production was rather good, worth seeing for the spectacle and singing alone (though whoever saw Val Kilmer's apparently sensational understudy was certainly luckier than I was to see Mr. K.)

I have to say that I think it will be sort-a kind-a cool to see it. I enjoy Notre Dame De Paris...(ducks)

Really? No way! I can think of so many other stage productions that deserve to be immortalized on DVD (and that people would want to buy and watch)! Sigh...oh well.

i guess i was one of the lucky ones that got to see Val Kilmer's u/s... who was phenomonal in the role... can't really picture Val doing the show after seeing his understudy... and i'm in the rarity of those that actually enjoyed the show... nothing awesome... just a fun night at the theater... i could see this show playing at the Luxor hotel in Vegas... what with its Egyptian theme and all.. hmmm

god help us all.
The only good aspect of that horrible production was Adam Lambert belting high C's in the song, "Is Anybody Listening?". You can hear him sing rock out on his website...www.adamlambert.org
He is by far one of my favorite male vocalists.
Thanks for the advice MagicToDo82. I just may do that, good thing I just bought a new pair of sunglasses as KOLHS (tee hee!)

I can not *wait* to buy this DVD. There are so many people I need to inflict it on so that they can understand just what I went through when I saw it...

I've never heard of the Ten Commandments -- is it related to the French show of the same name?
I went to HS w/ Adam and he is amazing. I missed this show (grrr) and I am so excited that I will get to hear it finally.
