The only role in Gypsy that she could pull off is Herbie. Close your eyes and listen to them. You can't tell Bacall and Jack Klugman apart. She'd have been a terrific Herbie.

^^^^ If she wanted to do one of the great "diva" roles, she would have been more believable as Mame. But I don't think she could have sung that either.

Back, back in the day, she could have negotiated Wonderful Town with great coaching and a little cheating.
