Does the DVD of the LES MISERABLES concert contain the entire show (as in every single song)? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else.
I believe it has all the songs, but I believe some incidental material was omitted. For instance, it goes right into Master of the House after Castle on a Cloud.
There is no professionally, publicly available, filmed version of the entire show in any incarnation.
No, the show is not complete.

But it has amazing cast! =)
Even you there's no barricade, it's an amazing thing to watch!
Just fast forward any scene involving Michael Maguire!
aww... he's not that bad.
Ruthie & Lea are amazing in the concert! The cast's a dream truly! Great to watch!
Ruthie is the only reason i bought the CD version of it, mind you the audio is very low on the CD
I hate the fact that it is out of print here in the US. When I checked amazon, they're selling it $199!
But I am searching to find one, this one should be on my collection.
It's really amazing.
It is a great dvd. Yes, it is sometimes annoying when you're only getting the actors singing in front of a mic, but you get over it. It would be great to get a full musical movie of Les Miz!
Michael Maguire looks too much like Ray Liotta for my liking.
I really can't understand how you guys don't like Michael Maguire. He is the best Enjorlas I have ever heard. But his voice is better on the OBC recording.
He sounds fine, although I personally prefer the sound of Anthony Warlow, and I think many other CSR owners will agree with me. The only real problem I have with Michael Maguire is that he looks too much like Ray Liotta for my liking. :3
Yes, the audio on the cd is terrible. I love Ruthie. Lea's Eponine didn't impress me at all. I think she over ennunciated and was too harsh to gain sympathy. Can't wait to see her take on Fantine next month!

His voice is nasal and mechanical, he hadn't sung for a while before the TAC so he can't hit the high notes...his Enjolras (note spelling) is generally an arrogant pain in the rear. I especially love his dumb, stunned freeze-framed face during the final battle.
You need to hear more Enjolrases.
They did a lot of editing for the concert itself. What is on the dvd/video and what is on the two disc cd is what went on during the acutal show. It wasn't like there was any editing of the concert to make it shorter for dvd/vhs.
For example, after castle on a cloud they do the bit where M. Theneardea sp ? comes in a d yells at cossett for not working. Then they have the intro for master of the house. The same one that's on the CSR and during the show that goes into the whole scene prior to the song. However, they don't do all the intro parts they just go straight to the whole " welcome Missure sit yourself down... Part.

Chino - why not try a UK site like amazon.co.uk or Dress Circle.com? Sendit.com has it for $14 (not inc P&P). So long as your DVD player is region free and can handle PAL (worth checking) you can get it for a fraction of the US price!
I prefer Anthony Warlow as well, but the CSR has other cast members that I'm not such fans of, so it doesn't get much play...
I love Anthony Warlow during "One Day More." Even though the CSR is my least fav. recording I do think it has the best rendition of "One Day More."

I love the TAC, it is the recording that made me a Les Mis fan. Ruthie and Lea are probably my favorites in the cast. Still, I think it would be a good idea to have a production video of the show, before Cam Mac gets done with producing the show.
I honestly love Michael as Enjolras. And I think he looks a lot more like Prince Eric than he does Ray Liotta. With the costume, IMO, the resemblance to Eric is uncanny. I'm just extremely weird for feeling that way...
But this is without a doubt my favorite recording of the show. My favorite vocal performance is Michael Ball's--it's so hard to listen to anyone else sing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables--this was the first time I ever discovered his gorgeous voice. And I adore Ruthie's Fantine, Phili's Javert, and I really like Lea's Eponine--it's at least a big improvement over the nasal sound of Frances Rufelle. And Alun Atmstrong and Jenny Galloway=perfection! For me, it features the all-around best cast..."the dream cast" (way for me to be way too corny)

I have it on VHS and I love it...
And at the end of the VHS, it said something about 2005-Wembley Stadium.
Did that happen?
Did that happen?
Much to the chagrin of gullible fangirls everywhere, no.
It includes the entire preformance which was edited down... its the recording with a visual...

Lizzie, I agree with your statements on Michael Maguire. I recently purchased the Complete Symphonic Recording and quite frankly, Anthony Warlow is the best damn Enjolras I've ever heard.
