For anyone who got the chance to see the wonderful new musical Little Women on Broadway starring the super-awesome Sutton Foster from Millie, it is a sad day. LITTLE WOMEN IS ENDING ITS RUN ON BWAY AFTER ONLY FIVE MONTHS!!!!!!!!! I saw this musical in previews at Duke University last fall (I actually saw the first matinee ever :)!), and it was the most powerful live show I've ever seen. I never cry at shows, and lord knows I've been to many, many live shows, and I was balling by the end. I met Sutton after (I was extremely beside myself, but managed to stay cool until she left, then I started oogling some more), and you could tell by her eyes looking so tired that she put her heart and soul into this musical and performing as the quirky yet lovable Jo March, and that made the experience complete. Everyone I saw at the Brian Center (where it was at Duke) was completely blown away, saying things like "If Sutton doesn't grab a Tony for this I'm never watching the Tony awards ever again," So why in the hell is it cancelled?! I never got to see it on Bway, but that doesn't mean I didn't download as much LWOB stuff as I could. I am so sad.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 2:57pmI know what you mean. I felt the same about "Good Vibrations". Everyone who saw it was bawling at the end. They were saying "If Justin doesn't grab the Tony, I'll never watch the Tony's again." So why the hell was this cancelled?

I loved Little Women too... Did you just realize the show closed today? Because all of us on the board have known about this for a long while now... it's kind of old news, as someone else has mentioned

Oh yeah. I thought it had something to do with the tour being cancelled...ya know, since it's not NEW news that The Broadway production closed.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 8:27pmI wasnt posting this to be informative I was ASKING if anyone knew what the heck is going on, and why they decided to end the run. I know its been cancelled for a week and a few days, because my director told me right before our dress rehearsal on the 20th, and my computers been down until now. If anyone knows what happened please tell me, I'm really confused, it seemed like it was doing OK on bway when last I checked. I can't wait to see who plays Jo in the tour. And yes, Amy McAlexander was in the cast when I saw it and I met her afterwards and she was very sweet.

They were struggling to keep attendance high...it just didn't have the numbers...
It didn't seem like anyone really cared about the show.
