LSOH Closing?
#0LSOH Closing?
Posted: 4/10/04 at 6:21pmOk, I'm out of breath as I'm typing this so please forgive me for being upset. I was just on the LSOH website forum where there are people saying it's closing July 25th. Of course, they don't have any proof associated with these posts, but I need to know reliable info here! I've checked all the Broadway headline sites and it's not mentioned anywhere. Does anyone know? Updated On: 4/10/04 at 06:21 PM

Posted: 4/10/04 at 6:26pmAt least I will be able to see it!!! haha I honestly think if LSOH doesnt start getting more people into the theatre, they will close very soon. Sad to say. It seemed like LSOH was always on TKTS and on the grosses listing they were never at 100%.

Posted: 4/10/04 at 11:27pmThere is no official notice that LSOH is closing. Sales are definitely way up. At this point, I bet most all shows will stay open until at least Tony nominations are announced/Tony Awards are given.

Posted: 4/11/04 at 1:22pmI would be very surprised if this thing EVER closes. If they've kept it open this long in spite of the fact that it's been at less than 50% capacity for most of it's run, than why would they close it now? What they *should* do, is be very careful with the casting, next time around.

Posted: 4/11/04 at 3:51pmLil Shop was down in Miami with an awesome cast, Alice Ripley was Audrey and Hunter Foster was Seymour! They were sooo cool, I worked on the show so I remember all of them.

jgph- please tell me you were kidding about Christina. The day she comes to Broadway is the day Broadway dies (ok- it's partially dead already- stunt casting makes me sick).
I say Kristen Chenoweth for Audrey!

Al Dente,
If you are going to spout statistics, have a clue what you are talking about. Little Shop of Horrors lowest week was 56 percent.
And overall average for the 32 weeks has been 73.5 percent.
Another one of your theories shot to hell. Pathetic...

Posted: 4/11/04 at 4:27pmKristen Chenoweth is PERFECTION as far as Audrey is concerned. And I would say she's pretty big a name; especially since Wicked, with all the publicity she's getting. I'd DEFINITELY go back again to see her do the role.

Posted: 4/11/04 at 7:15pmThe National LSOH tour begins around July 25th which might explain some person thinking that the Bway show was closing. I saw the schedule and can state that the tour is already booked for well over a year which is excellent. The Bway LSOH show seems to be picking up at the box office (according to actual grosses and break-even figures). I hope all the shows can stay afloat and keep as many people working as possible. Too bad that some theatre elitists on these threads only want Sondhiem revivals or shows which soon close leaving empty theaters. Bravo LSOH, Disney shows and others who sell tickets and give us all JOBS. Updated On: 4/11/04 at 07:15 PM

Posted: 4/11/04 at 10:53pmPardon my ignorance, but how much does LSOH have to make to break even? I have been wondering for quite some time.

Posted: 4/12/04 at 1:03amWell, regardless of whether or not the show closes soon, a change in cast would certainly be a welcome one. Personally, I can't stand either Kerry Butler or Hunter Foster in their roles. I agree with the person who mentioned that Kristin Chenoweth would be a good choice for the role (assuming that she could pull off the character voice in her speech and in her vocals). I wouldn't mind if Alice Ripley reprised her role from the Florida run, either.
