La Cage aux Barrowman

Stage and screen star John Barrowman will join the cast of the Menier Chocolate Factory's revival of La Cage aux Folles, now running at the West End's Playhouse, beginning Sept. 14. He will step into the role of Albin through Nov. 28.

Barrowman will succeed Roger Allam, who is currently playing the role.

We saw John Barrowman in concert in Oxford last Saturday - that man sure does do a good show. I reckon his experience of musical theatre stands him in good stead - the discipline in doing 8 shows a week means that, when he does his concert tour, he has so much energy to get rid of. The highlight had to be his combination of his musical theatre background and his Scottish heritage - a medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber numbers as a Scottish reel, complete with accordian and Scottish dancing - totally hilarious

One of my favourite musicals and Barrowman? I couldn't resist! Which I think was his response when offered the role-didn't he say on Paul O'Grady a while back that he also wondered if he was too young etc and was told that he might not get as good an offer again. Meh we all know Barrowman isn't one to turn down work!!(and quite right too!)

I'm off to see him in concert this Sat in Cardiff, then La Cage in Sept and Panto in Jan, I'm being spoiled by Barrowman goodness lol!
