This new movie musical sure sounds interesting. Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Damien Chazelle...http://deadline.com/2016/08/la-la-land-review-emma-stone-ryan-gosling-damien-chazelle-video-1201811177/

Opening at festivals, Toronto, Venice...due here at Christmas. It sounds like a love letter to Hollywood musicals.

I'm really looking forward to this. The trailers so far have looked great, and Chazelle's last film (Whiplash) was terrific.

huh I thought the first trailer was awful (but I haven't seen any since) and whoever let Emma Stone keep those eyebrows should be shot.

It's getting wonderful reviews and word of mouth out of Venice and the talent involved is exceptional. This is my must-see movie of the year, personally.

The critics and test screening audiences (along with the film festival attendants) would thoroughly disagree with the first part of your post. Cannot speak to Emma Stone's eyebrows, though.

did they see that first trailer? did you? it wasn't good.

I wasn't speaking to the quality of the film just the perception I got from the trailer (and sure, lots of good movies are hard to capture in a 30 or even 60 second trailer).

Awards Daily which is a website I love that tracks the Oscar race has already handicapped this movie and especially Emma Stone to be the current front runner favorites for winning the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Actress. It would be very cool if another musical took that honor. Chicago was the last to win and way before that Oliver!

It's definitely the frontrunner for Best Picture out of the ones that have been screened at festivals so far, there's still a couple more to come. Best Actress seems to be the hottest race this year but Emma certainly stands a good chance, especially after winning Best Actress at Venice.
