LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week

LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week

1/2 Price tickets are being offered for this week's preview performances of Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party at the Hudson Theater in L.A. (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday only).
I'm going to the first preview, on Tuesday and can't wait!

It's got an amazing cast headed by:
Daisy Eagan, Sally Kellerman, Jane Lanier, and Valarie Pettiford.

The very talented Eric Anderson will be playing Burrs, the same role he portrayed in the recent (and amazing) two-performance only production of Andrew Lippa's version.

The Blank Theater is stingy on 1/2 price tickets so there are no guarantees on future performances.

And check out the latest updates to my Musicals Coming to L.A. site.

Enjoy the weekend,
Steven :)

Thanks for the heads up on this Steven!

I just purchased my tickets for Wednesday night's performance. I am looking forward to seeing a production of this. I haven't yet heard the cast recording and I didn't want my first taste of LaChiusa to be See What I Wanna See in NY so this works perfectly!

Thanks again Steven, from Stephen. re: LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week

I truly enjoyed seeing this show on Broadway. I simply adored John LaChuisa's score. I highly recommend it to anyone living in the L.A.area. Hearing the music played live was so overpowering for me. His ever changing tempos, styles, harmonies and his seamless merging of one musical experience into the next made me have cerebral orgasms. Excellent choice in casting Sally Kellerman in the Eartha Kitt role of Dolores. GO SEE THIS!

Eric Anderson is AMAZING! I saw him in the Lippa staged reading a few months ago and have had the pleasure of being in Ragtime with him. He is a fantastic performer and very cool person.

AHH! I should go, but I don't have money and I don't have a mother who would let me borrow and I don't have a car and I don't have a mother would drive me! Dang. Not fair not fair not fair not fair.

Is that image a poster from a newspaper/source, or just an online image, because I want a poster on my wall of this show, lol.

Yes, Julie Dixon Jackson is in the show too; she was so memorable with Misty Cotton in Side Show. By the way, Sheri, I had a wonderful short chat with Bets Malone after the sensational (and rave reviewed On The Town). She is an absolute delight, Ovation nominated for Guys and Dolls, and thrilled (she said) at her very first nomination. Thanks for setting up her website!!!

Bets is one of the nicest people that I've had the pleasure of meeting in LA Theatre - she's SO sweet whenever I happen to see her after a show. re: LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week Glad you enjoyed "On The Town" - I wish I'd seen it since I heard such wonderful things about it.

BTW, Steven I'll be in LA in November and I noticed your show is running during that time. Please PM me with some details, I love to try to see you on stage. re: LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week

I saw Kristen Benton Chandler in "The Scarlet Pimpernel." I'm sure she will be wonderful in "The Wild Party." I can't wait to see it.

re: LaChiusa's Wild Party Opens In L.A. This Week

Ok, first off I had never seen a LaChiusa show before (at least that I know of)...hell, I can't even pronounce the man's name. I had never heard the songs before and didn't know the story so it was completely new to me. I was a little scared in the beginning that I wasn't getting what was going on, but then I realized, all these people are just lost, not me. The performances were amazing (Erika, Kirsten was my favorite and I'm not just saying that!)and even a character like Sally made her presence felt even though she was slumped over and passed out most of the time...that, to me was amazing. I could go on and on about each performance but I wont as I'm still sort of soaking it all in and making my mind about them. The only thing that was a little disctracting was the lights as they clearly hadn't worked out some of the technical stuff yet and, as an added warning, if you're not wanting to get splashed with liquid don't sit up close as they fling those glasses everywhere! I'd like to thank Steven for letting me in on the discount and for being such an enthusiastic theater buddy!

Popular: Yay! That's so cool! If you don't mind, I'm going to forward your little mini-review to Miss K. I'm sure she'll be thrilled. =)

Sure! I'm sorry it's not more well thought out... I was just rambling but please do tell her that I enjoyed it! I'm sure she knows that from the standing ovation the entire house gave them though.

If I did not have to atone for all of my sins, I would try to go tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for the review Popular. I guess it is worth the full face to go.

BTW - you going to see 700 Sundays at the Wilshire Theater?

I NEED TO GO SEE THAT!!! Am I threadjacking the thread? Yes. Yes, I am! Can you please post me info on that again... when do tickets go on sale?

Nevermind: here is a link, although the question of when it goes on sale remains.
