I would be glad if they managed to come back. Although, I am certain that ticket prices would be through the roof.
The way I see it is - if they come back, great, that's fantastic. If not - oh well, life must go on.

Posted: 1/28/07 at 1:01amTonight was my first time seeing the production. I loved Lane/Broderick in the movie. However, Foster kicked major butt as Leo tonight! I fell in love! I had never seen him before and only knew basic things about him, but wow! He IS that role! If Lane/Broderick come back I will definitely try to get tickets.

Posted: 1/28/07 at 7:49pmYou think they would do this just for closing night?
#58re: Lane & Broderick to Return to The Producers?
Posted: 1/28/07 at 9:08pmI think they'd do it for 6 weeks or so... I mean, especially for $175,000 a week. Good God, thats over $1 mil! Plus, I think it'd be terrible for them to tell the current performers "OK, you'll be doing this until the end of the run... BUT not closing night."

The mezz was empty on a SATURDAY night?! That's rare! The St. James obviously doesn't fill up like it used to, but it's usually pretty full on Saturday nights. Not that I'm there all the time or anything. No, not me. Ahem, ahem.
As far as the Lane/Broderick return, I really don't care either way. It'd be nice to see the show go out with a bang, but at the same time, I love the smaller scale cast. (Sans Danza-- that's just sad) Hunter Foster is wonderful. Even if John Egan came back, that would be fantastic. I'd like to see those two close out the show.
Ideally, I'd like to have John Egan back as Max. Roger Bart as Leo. And we'll keep the rest as is. That'd be a fun way to close out the show. Their chemistry is fantastic.
Wow, ramble. Shutting up now.

Posted: 1/29/07 at 9:56amI'd LOVE for that to happen. If it does, I will do anything to see it. I love Matthew. :) I think it'd be the perfect way to close the show. It'd be cool if they brought back Roger Bart, Gary Beach, and Cady Huffman too. That might be asking for too much though lol

dfwtheatreguy, I guess I misunderstood your comment about "maybe just for the closing". What would be the appropriate run for this? Presuming they started in April (which presumes Danza will fulfill his entire contracted run), they would be covering the three months until the closing.
For those who are excited about this, be prepared to pay big bucks since the producers will know they can make good money. And no matter what they might pay Broderick and Lane, the press will say they are making more. The fact is that this is not the first time Brooks' poor planning has meant that he has had to be bailed out.
The rumored ravaging of the show in Vegas and switheroo to make Hasselhoff the star instead of the Max and Leo roles is just another example...and how about that Richard Dreyfuss debacle? Brooks needs to listen to good business counsel and stop being a solipsist.
I love to see any Broadway show succeed...don't get me wrong...and I LOVE THIS show, and loved Lane and Broderick in the roles, but I think that it should be allowed to die a natural death. Let Broderick and Lane go on to other roles with fond memories of this wonderful experience. I am sure I am in the minority here, but that is my opinion.

Posted: 1/29/07 at 6:33pmI wouldn't be at all surprised if Brooks himself appeared in the show for the closing weeks playing the judge. Just guessing...but it would certainly lift the takings in those final weeks.
