What do you prefer in a musical, a large ensemble cast of 20+, or a small chamber piece of 10 or less?

Either, as long as the cast size serves the material.

Absolutely. Phantom is a show that's designed for a chorus, and John and Jen is not.

Size doesn't matter in this case....as in most life concerns.

Perhaps I should rephrase the question: Do you generally find yourself enjoying large ensemble shows or small chamber pieces more?

It always depends on the show. Fun Home with 30 people would work about as well as Wicked with nine people (not well at all).

I don't have a preference....it makes no difference. A well told, dynamic story that is well directed is what makes a show work or not. It has nothing to do with the size. I have some large cast shows I love, and some small.
