Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy will return to the role of Chihuahua-toting law student Elle Woods in the Nashville engagement of the national tour of Legally Blonde the Musical.
Bundy, who is now a Nashville, TN, resident, will perform the role during the evening performances of Legally Blonde, which plays Jackson Hall June 23-28. Lauren Zakrin will portray Elle Woods at matinee performances.
Bundy assumes the role while national tour leading actress Becky Gulsvig is on vacation. Zakrin performed Elle Woods at the Dayton, OH, stop of Legally Blonde last week.

Anyone Notice how the only show she has done Recently is LB. Does this mean she can get no other work. I Think she is talented and deserves to do other (better) shows.
^ I thought the reason she moved to Nashville was to attempt to kickstart a country-singing career or something like that??
Do they not trust Zarkin to sell the tickets? Because I'd be a whole lot more interested in seeing her then LBB.
And although I'm sure lots of "non-theater goers" would recognize LBB from the MTV airing, I think more people would recognize Lauren from the reality show. Teenage girls who followed the show would come flocking.

This time is just seems stupid- the other time Becky was on an extended leave due to injury and the second time the show was in Nashville, now it's just weird.
Actually, it's a smart move. LBB lives in Nashville, the tour is in Nashville. Hence people in the Nashville music industry who might not sign her to a label, etc. can see her in the show. Actors used to jump at the chance when a tour was in L.A. to do the same thing. Hopefully, it works for her.
Whenever an actor can go back into a role that they originated, or have played before, that's a great opportunity for them.
Don't understand why anyone would think it's a bad thing, or that they "can't get work." WTF?

I thought I read an interview the other day where LBB said that she wanted to do the tour in Nashville so her friends and family would get to see her perform in Legally Blonde because they didn't get to see it when she was Elle in NYC.

I have tickets for this wednesday, can't wait.
Here's hoping to a stint in Los Angeles as well...
As far I know Laura keeps very busy. In addition to her singing career and acting, I know she does a lot of theatre camps and such over the summers. Plus, after the rigors of LB, she probably really needed a break.
I would be thrilled to see a Tony nominated actress reprise her role. Who wouldn't? I agree with NealB.
As far as the Theatre camps go, she actually is doing one this week with Paul Cannan and someone else, who's name excapes me.
When I read the first sentence, I stopped right after Chihuahua. It was kind of funny. I was like "huh? haha"
I saw her Saturday night. She happened to get injured during the performance, actually during "What You Want." But she stuck in there and finished the showm and although she wasn't physically able to sign autographs at the stage door she was completely sincere about it and seemed to hate to let down her fans.
I think it's interesting that Lauren's been playing the role. I watched the show some, and I thought she was one of the better ones.
What happened with Bailey? (Sorry if this is a rehash.)

Does anybody know what Laura was doing during 'What You Want' that she got injured?

If you know the song, it was right before the "Uh Huh, Oh Yea, Go Elle, HO." She was going across the stage to get to the end of the line for choreography and she just fell. I don't remember if she tripped or not, but from what I do remember she kind of landed on her knees. It happened so quick, she just got right back up.
