She quit the show claiming she hurt her neck during the show
and the producers disagreed, I think there was a lawsuit.
isn't that an old story?

I adore Laura Benanti. Her performance as Cinderella in the "Into the Woods" revival was one of the best musical theater performances I've ever seen. Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit because she's so incredibly hot...but really, she's mega-talented.

She's going to be great. She's not impossible to work with as you will see from a lot more stories to come.

As for the "lawsuit," there was none. It was threatened, but the Dodgers (remember? the company responsible for big moneymakers such as Titanic and BARE?) clearly ate their words when Laura was recovering from her neck surgery and subsequent scars.

I just hope Laura's matured enough to welcome fans at the stagedoor this time around.

Bill Finn rocks. Woot.

This now may actually be worth seeing if Laura is in it....I'm still having issues picturing this movie as a musical, but heck, they made Dirty Rotten Scoundrels into a musical, so I suppose it's possible.

It actually has nothing to do with maturity. Laura's got a problem with crowds and the very thought of people yelling to her for an autograph and such. It just really freaks her out. She's had some bad experiences with it and has also had some stalkers. I don't know about you, but if it was me in her position, I wouldn't really want to hang around the stage door for an hour signing autographs either.

Benanti aside, this is another one of those "who thought this would make a great musical?," moments. As I've said in threads long past, the only reason this movie was watchable at all was due to Sandlers' performance and the chemistry between he and Barrymore. They're making the mistake of thinking that everything is going to turn in to the smash that Hairspray is and that's not a given, not by a long shot.
