I was wondering which SPRING AWAKENING cast member they were going to choose for a Fresh Face feature. It's funny, because Lea has been on Broadway for years. I'd think they would have chosen someone making their Broadway debut. But still, this is Lea's first leading role.

Also Jonathan Groff got a Fresh Face when Spring Awakening was off-broadway.

Wanna Be a Foster- I had been thinking the same thing. Lea is an interesting choice. For a while I had a sneaking suspicion it would be Jonathan B. Wright, because he seemed to steal the show for many people. Interesting article, nonetheless.

I agree on Jonathan B. Wright. I was kind of hoping they would have chosen him. He is fantastic as Hanschen. But I'm just glad this show is getting lots of press. It's an amazing show, and I want the word to spread about it.

God, I wish she'd saved Les Mis from Celia. It must have been a tough choice (well to me it looks like it was. Maybe it was a no-brainer for her).

Well, LES MIS was going to be a 6-month limited run. SPRING AWAKENING has a bright future ahead of it, and she has been with the project from Day 1. And after the reception this LES MIS ended up getting, she absolutely made the right decision. Who would pass up the chance to originate a role in a brand new musical to star in a limited-run, too soon for its own good revival? Not to mention that she is brilliant in SPRING AWAKENING. I cannot imagine anyone portraying Wendla as beautifully as Lea does.

This is almost exactly like Sutton Foster.

Yeah, except for the whole out-of-town thing, and plucked from the chorus thing, and the new musical thing.

Lizzie, why is almost everyone single one of your posts so obnoxious?

Anyway, Lea obviously made the right choice, and considering the mixed reception the way-too-soon "revival" of Les Miz got, I doubt she's spending too much time thinking about it.

I beg to differ. Only the obnoxious ones are most memorable. re: Lea Michele, Fresh Face on Broadway.com

I think its cute Lea is an Idina fan :) Not every Idina fan is a teenage WICKED freak!

She is very pretty, I must say, and I can't wait to see her in SPRING AWAKENING.
