Posted: 6/8/05 at 10:44pmYou have no much I heart Lea. She is one of the best performers I have seen and has a voice to die for. Both her on stage credits, movie credits and her cd's. There all just...so awesome!

I would love to see her concert!
She was also one of the first voices that I herd.

Her Eponine certainly is a force to be reckoned with.
Frances who?

Posted: 6/8/05 at 11:36pmI absolutely love Lea, but my heart is with Ma-anne Dionisio. Both are equally talented and Filipino...like me!

SHE IS MY IDOL.
Not only is version of On My Own the only version I can stand, but she is a talented and darling performer.
I miss her :0)

Me too!
I saw Ma-anne last year and she was amazing! I'm still Lea biased though.

It seems to me Ma-anne has a more "searing" voice. It's like velvet or butter. lol. Don't get me wrong Lea is top-notch but there is something about Ma-anne's voice that really strikes me. It's beautiful. Check out her "on my Own" and compare the two. You won't be disappionted!

Wow, if Lea weren't married and I weren't gay...
Hold on, that's a Gary Adler song performed by Stephanie D'Abruzzo.
But really, she's the one who made me fall in love with theatre. Plus she's Filipino, and the first one I know of to win a Tony. So of course, she's more than inspiration to me.
I saw her in Miss Saigon and was blown away! One of the strongest performers I've ever seen. And gosh, can her voice be any more perfect? What a beautiful person in all aspects.

Posted: 6/9/05 at 2:04amYou guys ever seen her completely flip out on her newsgroup? It's comedy gold, man.

Posted: 6/9/05 at 2:07amWhat? Where is this "flipping out"?? I must know!

Well, here's one of them. It happens every once in a while; I'm not sure I'd be able to find the others.
"It seems that a lot of you guys here know talk a good game; now prove it. I'm tired of the back and forth discussions here of "they should have done this... the producers were terrible... they could have done better, blah blah, blah..." Since some of you are such geniuses, put the brain power you're wasting on this newsgroup and do something more constructive with your time.
I'm going to retire from this group for a while... you guys have been exhausting."
Dah dah dummmmm

Thanks Lizzy!
That was...interesting? I assume maybe she was tired? That poor guy who asked those questions wasn't looking for THAT kind of response, I am sure!!

Lea is one of the reasons I became so interested in musical theatre. I was blown away by the beauty and innocence of her voice when I heard the Miss Saigon cd.
If you haven't already, you should check out the cd they released of her Manila production of BABY from last year. She sounds lovely on The Story Goes On (albeit, she has problems belting the final few notes, but oh well.)

Posted: 6/9/05 at 9:50amI saw her in Chicago "In Concert" a little while back. She was brilliant. Now to expand on the "flipping out" comment. During one of her lead-ins to a song, she made a comment about finding the love of your life or being in love in general (something on that order). She then said that "it doesn't matter if you are black or white, straight or gay.". When she said the word "gay", most of the audience chuckled. She completely stopped in her tracks and confronted the audience asking "why did you laugh when I said gay, why is that funny??!". It was a while ago and I don't remember anymore of what she said other than "grow up", so if anyone else was there, please feel free to jump in. She may be small in stature, but I think she has strong convictions and would beat anyone to the mat during a debate. I do admire her even more after that night.

having been a part of Lea's newsgroup for quite some time now (maybe 5 years or so)... Lea is extremely gracious to her fans... but she does get tired of people ALWAYS complaining... in regards to that comment to a fan.. it was actually towards all her fans who complained about her concert... people were making comments about how it was promoted and how they didn't do a good job... and Lea defended the promoters saying how much hard work it is and how not everyone can do it... she put up with the complaining for a while and finally had enough... moving on...
i absolutely love lea... have had a crush on her since i was in the 8th grade (now i'm 26... haha)... anyways... when Flower Drum Song was playing here in Los Angeles at it's pre-broadway tryout... i mentioned on her newsgroup that i would be at the show.. well afterwards at the stage door i mentioned i was from the newsgroup and she said "oh you're the person who said that was coming"... and then she took a picture with me... woo hooo... like i said... she's so gracious to her fans...

I never realized how many BWWers were Filipino. My dad's family is Filipino. I absolutely love it.
I wish I got to see her in concert but I'm getting tickets to my other idol's concert (Bernadette) so it all works out.

Posted: 6/9/05 at 2:15pmI think she has a beautiful voice and I love listening to her sing, but her between-song patter is truly painful to listen to. I have all of her live cds and it is just really difficult to listen to her attempt to speak to her audience.
