Lea Salonga Love: Recordings/Albums, Raves, Rants & Updates!

I have always admired Lea Salonga for her great talent in singing even before her Miss Saigon fame in London which eventually brought her to Broadway as Kim and later to Les Miserables as Eponine and now as Fantine.

What other recordings do you own or know of that she have made here in the US and overseas?

So far I have:

I agree with "Inspired" (see link below) and add to that "When October Goes."

c. The King and I (US 1992 Studio Cast) - she recorded Tuptim's songs (with Julie Andrews, Ben Kingsley, Peabo Bryson, etc.). You can get this from Amazon.com.

There's a song on one of her live albums it's called "Someone's Waiting For You" ~ it's such a beautiful song!

Lea Salonga is also on the DVD and CD for HEY MR. PRODUCER, in which she sings snippets from Miss Saigon, Les Miz and Company.

She also sings the theme song and others in the soundtrack to an early 90's Filipino movie called BAKIT LABIS KITANG MAHAL.

And she's in a CD where she sings with the West Point Glee Club and another CD w/ Daniel Rodriguez called IN THE PRESENCE, in which Lea departs from her usual belt and sings as a lyric soprano for Franck's Panis Angelicus and ALW's Pie Jesu.

I have BAKIT LABIS KITANG MAHAL.
I have the majority of her albums.
And Lizzie, you can't judge her whole catalogue on just one album. She has some great stuff out there that I'm sure a lot of people on this board haven't had the pleasure or opportunity to hear. re: Lea Salonga Recordings/Albums...

I liked her Atlantic self-titled CD. She does a nice cover of Olivia Newton-John's I HONESTLY LOVE YOU, and THE JOURNEY was a decent offering written by Julie Gold.

It may be generic, early nineties AC/Pop, but I’ll admit to enjoying that self-titled album (and I love her cover of “Vision of You”).

I have her live cds, but never listen to them because the between-song banter is SOOOOOOOO painful to listen to. I almost didn't go and see her concert at Carnegie Hall because of it, but she has grown so much as a performer that she was at ease in between the songs as she was singing them. She was perfection that evening, both as a singer and an entertainer.

Too bad that concert wasn't released on cd or dvd. It was a magical night with amazing guest star singers.

i like her self titled album album too. i think 'vision of you' is great. next would be her 'broadway concert'...

i ordered her new album 'inspired' from amazon. lots of descent tracks.

Oh, yeah, I like VISION OF YOU too. I think that may be a Belinda Carlisle cover.

LESSONS OF LOVE was even featured in, of all shows, BAYWATCH, if I remember correctly.

antonijan - on the "New Broadway Souvenier," are you refering to the souvenier brochure for Les Miserables? If yes, did you order it from the Les Miz site?

okay...let me dish the dirt :P

I got the Les Miz souvenir brochure for $10...the same one the broadway.com sells for like $30 or so.

They also sell Color Purple, Chicago (Black and White), and a bunch of other for $10 while others are also cheaper.

I got the Fame on the 42nd street soundtrack for only $5 and that's because of the coupon code discount I used from the "specials" page of the site.

I discovered the site through phantomlasvegas.com and it brought me there when I searched for "program" :P

I was holding on to this secret because I realize the site could increase the prizes if they realize they have a lot of demand and traffic just like what broadway did.

Through broadway...I got Rent, Movin' Out, Lestat and Aida Program for $10 but they have since double the price!

Thanks antonijan. That site is quite well known to a lot of people. Please do me a favor and look inside the program and check if the colored pictures are of Lea Salonga. The current one (which sells for $10.00 @ Broadhurst) has the loose cast bio insert with her black and white picture but not in the colored pages. It still features Daphne Vega. I'm curious because Dewynters told us that they won't release an updated one with Lea's colored Fantine publicity shots until they have taken pictures of the new principal replacements (Harada and all). The updated one is not supposed to be released for sale until mid May.
