Just a little off topic, check out the Mother's Day Special of People magazine featuring the beautiful Lea Salonga and her daughter on the cover.

For anyone who's seen her:
How awesome is her Fantine? Her Fantine... I can't describe it without becoming a total fangirl... but her interpretation of the role, and especially her IDAD, was stunning. I actually held me breath when she sang it, it was so enthralling. I almost fell out of my seat from leaning forward to see every little gesture. When she sang I Dreamed A Dream, it was like time stopped or something. It was AMAZING!
Anyone else feel the same way about her portrayal as I did? It's got to be the one live performance I saw that has changed my entire life...

Hi All-
I did NOT realize there was a thread for Lea Salonga. By the way..my cousin from the Philippines sent me her CD and two of my favorite were her Tagalog/English songs- one duet with Menudo's Charlie Masso ( remember ? not sure is that his last name is correct) called " I Still Believe" (not the same as on Miss Saigon) and "Please Naman" - my guilty pleasures !
I met her last March when she stepped in as Fantine on "Les Miserables" . She was in the musical for like 15 minutes in Act 1 and 5 minutes in Act 2. But I did not realized that Ali Ewoldt (Cossette) is also Filipina . Actually Lea was really nice in person. I heard from some of my fellow Filipinos that she is a snub, but not really true. It was an oppurtunity that I had a chance to see her again after Miss Saigon.
I would like to share my pics.. from "Les Miserables" . I was not happy with my pic with Lea bec. someone was grabbing her and she did not even smile...And I felt guilty that all those Filipinos in line waiting for Lea did not even say 'hi" to Ali Ewoldt and the rest of the cast...(including me
- we were just waiting for Lea ..LOL !!
BTW- Are you all Filipinos in this thread ? bec. I saw some Tagalog words!

I'm not. And the stage door crowd around her is so crazy I didn't even bother trying to meet her back in May.

Its so funny bec. when I was on the stage door- everyone was saying- that Cossette
is Filipina ! that Marius is Filipino too ! I told them..no Marius is not !! and when Lea came out... we were all yelling !! and just forgotten all about the other cast members

Really ? I did not know that Adam Jacobs (Marius) is half Filipino ! that's why??-
he smiled when those Filipinos were saying ... he is Filipino too..
I knew that Ali Ewoldt (Cosette) is Filipina bec. she spoke to me in Tagalog !

I went to a Lea Salonga concert here in DC a few years ago. In a very large theatre, I had to be one of the very few non-Filipinos. Quite a few people asked me how I had even heard of her (though were very happy she was recognized outside of the Filipino community).
The concert though was one of the best I have been to- all showtunes and a full range of types at that.

KChenoweth fan- that's nice to know. She's very talented! and as a Filipino-American-- I am very proud of her of what she accomplished - she opened the door to a lot of Filipinos on Broadway. Now-Were blessed with the talents such as DeeDee Magno (Wicked Touring Company),Rona Figueroa,Monique Wilson, Jose Llana (25th Putnam County Spelling Bee),Paolo Montalban (The King & I Revival ) and ofcourse- Ali Ewoldt & Adam Jacobs (Les Miserables Revival ) and countless-pls let me know if I forgot anyone ( my apology! )
For the Record- I DID NOT LIKE Les Miserables Revival but definitely I have love for Lea Salonga , Ali Ewoldt & Adam Jacobs ! that's why I went to see it and show my support to my fellow Filipinos !
