Lea's Performing This Weekend

She's performing this Friday and this weekend (only) as Fantine...sort of like a preview but, her official bow is still March 6th.

No. Her bow is Friday... considering she's starting four days earlier.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

Her official bow is Tuesday, March 6th but, according to Lea Salonga herself, she's performing tomorrow, Friday, March 2nd and this weekend "sort of like a preview" type. She announced that in her site.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

I believe that her performance on the 2nd is a dress rehearsel that is closed to the public, still making the 6th her first public bow.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

No, according to her...it's a public performance and she's inviting her fans to see her perform Friday and the weekend. Believe me...she personally announced it herself in her site.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

Could you post a link or an address to her site? I found one site that was under construction, and the other site I found doesn't mention this. I would love to see her this weekend if this is true.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

Yea, I can't find this on "her" site(s) either.

There was a serious rehearsal scheduled for today.
If she's performing tonight as well, that's great.
More Saturday and Sunday and Tuesday (even two out of four) would be even better.
I think we should expect two performances Wednesday, March 7.

p.s. I'll be there Wednesday night.
By then she'll be perfect.

DeLaria?
Michele?
Salonga?

Thread title is rather vague.

It's Lea Salonga...missed the last name on the title thread.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

So, if anyone is inclined to head to the Broadhurst Theater this weekend, please do come. I'd appreciate it very much!

Don't worry. The theater will be packed.

p.s. Please don't slip on the barricades.
But break a leg Lea (Salonga).

Poor Nikki Renee Daniels! re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

I would hate to be those who had counted on seeing her as Fantine this weekend and bought tickets for it only to find someone else there.

I see that Nikki has changed her Myspace. This stinks and is a poor way for the producers to treat her. And I'm don't even know her.

Nikki was incrdible in the role. One of the best Fantines I've seen.

It seems that kind of thing happens when Lea Salonga returns to a show. Just ask Deedee Magno.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

I don't understand what the deal is with starting Lea early?
I mean. I do. It's the $$$.
It's a very poor way to handle this situation.
Word of a producer is not worth a spit.

And producers wonder why people don't bother buying tickets ahead of time. This is one prime example. When they don't even bother honoring the press release they send out.

It's not unheard of. Colm Wilkinson has performed Valjean a few times unannounced before his big "return"(s). He returned to the role in St. Paul shortly before Toronto, and in San Francisco shortly before Shanghai. Neither of these were publicized by the Mackintoshers.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

Yeah. I know.

Still stinks big time for the "non-star" performer.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

Yes, I understand it's showbizz.
Doesn't mean I have to like this part of it.
Easy for you to be blase about it since you're a Lea fan.

And, for producers who complain about audiences not buying advance tickets, just one more reason for the audience not to. Shooting yourself in the foot for the long term for a short term gain.

re: Lea's Performing This Weekend

This happens. I don't see why it would have an impact on anything other than the creative team agreeing to let Lea get warmed up this weekend. It's a call thats made for reasons other than what the general public may know. It should have no affect on anything or anyone at this point. She's taking over and will be there ....till whenever.

musicaltheatre1, i think you're problem here is that march 6th is not a Friday. March 6th is a Tuesday. This might be where the confusion is stemming from.
