Leap of Faith gets cast album, but On a Clear Day doesnt.

Leap of Faith closed wayyy earlier then On A Clear day, but LOF has a cast album. Why didn't On A Clear Day get one? Just wondering

Maybe because, other than Jesse Mueller, there was nothing good about Clear Day.

Money, pure and simple. The producers wanted to put money into a cast recording of Leap of Faith.

Because someone wanted to spend money and someone else didn't. The end.

I would have liked a Clear Day album, too. It was totally demented but I had a good time.

I doubt Harry Connick Jr. wanted permanent record of his failed Broadway return.

I did like the new arrangement of "Love with All the Trimmings", though.

I've been wondering this for a while now, but approximately how much money does it take to record a cast album for a show of average cast and orchestra size? (I realize it depends also on who the performers are and their typical salaries, but i'm just curious about the range.) Thanks!

The score to Clear Day (without the interpolations) has been recorded. Leap of Faith was a new score, and it's preservation is a worthy expense.

The cast each gets a week's a day's worth of recording. Then you have musicians, studio time, mastering costs and marketing- it adds up fast.

I can see that producers of Leap of Faith would pony up to record the score knowing that musicals that don't have cast recordings available are much less likely to be performed by a community or school group.
