How long are the leads contracted for? Will they be there may of 08? Especially LBB?
Most people have a one year contract. As to LBB she will probably sit down with the producers next year and figure out something.
i really hope that her and orfeh are.......whats the chances of that happening?

Bundy is the weakest person in the cast. The show won't suffer in the least if she left. In fact, I'd say it would only improve.

I was just going to post that Elle Woods doesn't seem that hard to recast.

The role IS hard to cast. That's the problem. You need a triple threat with enough star wattage to overcome the Witherspoon shadow and lead a major Broadway musical with sincerity and spunk. Bundy doesn't fill that. Her understudies do.

It may be hard to get someone to play it well, but I think the fans of the show will like it no matter who's playing Elle. From all accounts, Bundy didn't set the bar that high so it wouldn't be that difficult to find someone who would at least meet it.
I can wholeheartedly concur with that and by all accounts she was "better" in SF when I saw her and *that's* not going to be hard to replace at all.
I'm not sure if Annaleigh Ashford, based on her completely underwhelming and humourless performance as Glinda, fits that description either, broadwayguy2.

orfeh IS the weakest person in the cast.. Remember the movie when Paulette was funny? What a shame..
Quibbler, were we at the same performance of Wicked? I said the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago about Annaleigh.

i agree that the role is hard to cast. I know there are the blondes out there, Hilty, reinders, BUtler (can't dance at all), but none of those girls really have star quality. I say find a diamond in the rough like they did when they found carly jibson for hairspray. she wasn't a name at 18 right out of highschool, yet I dare say the BEST tracy turnblad.
Find a nice college girl with energy and pipes to boot, and recast the thing. LBB is barely adequate and that was the best they could

Annaleigh comes off MUCH better than Bundy here.

PAULETTE IS NOT THE SAME CHARACTER AS SHE WAS IN THE MOVIE...ORFEH SAID SHE WAS IN NO WAY COPYING JEN COLIDGE...WHY CAN't PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT!
BG2, has Laura missed any performances?

If the Producers werent "color blind" , i bet Dequina Moore would give Bundy a run for her money. SHE'S Terrific ! And radiates charisma ! Just a thought.

I think that would be great, but aren't there lines in the script that refer to Elle as blonde? Not to mention the title.. She could probably do Vivian or some role like that though.

Well anything is possible on Broadway nowadays-just take a look ! It would take some reworking, but considering the candy machine that it is i bet it wouldnt matter. Change some lines, switch her "Beyonce" wig for one a little more blonde, and you got it made.
Again, just a thought, a crazy thought.

I would absolutely love to see a black Elle!
they may have to change some things, but if they wanted to do it they could.
I'd be willing to be that if the show runs for a couple years a black Elle will be cast sooner or later.

I think if the script was tweaked it would work well, but it makes me wonder how much tweaking would be necessary. The good thing about Legally Blonde is that so many of the roles can be color blind cast, like Vivien, Warner, Emmet, Paulette, Callahan, the sorority girls, etc. Those roles are perfect for any race.

One of Orfeh's understudies is Amber Efé, who is black. I am dying to see her as Paulette.
