PS, I would run to the theater to see Amber Efe' go on as Paulette but I wouldn't hold my breath that Orfeh will be out anytime soon.

Im sure Orfeh is grateful to have a fan such as you; who can see beyond the fact that she mugged the entire show and no idea what was going on. Her character was different . yes! but, that was due to the fact that she didnt nail it..
plus that rididulous irish song recycled from some other show doesnt help her case...
Jen Simmard, the new Rona in "Bee" wouldve been brilliant.

I don't blame the actors on this one.. There is no direction.. ie; the best courtroom moments are replaced with a "lets dance to a bathroom and watch a perm get washed out"...

I agree, joanntom.

Granted, I'm glad that Orfeh is not doing an impersonation of Jennifer Coolidge's movie role. That would not be interesting. However, Orfeh's version of the role isn't interesting, either. I don't remember laughing once when she was on stage.

Wait. I take that back. I laughed a lot at her cute dog. Oh, and I was laughing at the stupid (and wholly unnecessary) Irish number, but not in a good way. (This mess of a production number was obviously not her choice nor her fault.)

Don't get me wrong. She's not bad. She's just not ... funny ... in what should/could be a funny role.

Wait Foster , I thought I was the shill and reverse shill police and head parishoner at the church of Orfeh. Scooter and Joanntom (who reminds me so much of Camthom), it's really a shame the two of you obviously can't read or else you might have to deal with and SWALLOW the fact that (pretty much across the board), Orfeh got raves from professionals who don't get their jollies sitting around message boards making asses of themselves bashing the unbashable. Oh, that and the two award nominations, I guess "prove" how terribly unfunny the girl is. Again, shame you can't read. And please, spare yourselves further embarrassment and don't bother citing the ATC review, that's a joke and an exceptionally funny one.

I saw the show this weekend and was sadly disappointed; at the risk of being thrown sale figures, to answer the original topic in this post; I don't know if the show will be running this time next year . . . Huge theater; tickets already on tkts. . .idk.

Al Dente and Ruprecht, your devotion to Orfeh is admirable, but you need to give people a chance to express their opinions. There is no reason to jump on people for not liking Orfeh's performance. I happen to think she does a wonderful job in "Legally Blonde" and deserves whatever award nominations she gets, but if other people don't, you can't keep jumping down their throats.

It's your opinion that Orfeh is the best thing about the show.
It isn't fact.
She is fabulous in the role, but to each their own.
There are always going to be differing opinions.
I was going to say "If we all worshipped upon the throne of Orfeh, that would get boring" but okay, it totally wouldn't.

Your argument, if you could call it that, is preposterous, by the way. There is no sense in bashing people for their opinions. Disagree, fine. But back the f*** off. Postings like yours do nothing to spark intelligent, well thought out debate and discussion.

Award nominations don't mean that Orfeh gave a funny performance when I saw her.

And maybe you missed the fact that I said that she wasn't bad. I don't think she's terrible.

Yeah...I didn't see what was so special about Orfeh either. She was the best thing about the show...well after the bulldog...but that isn't really saying much.
However, I don't think it was any fault of her own. It was the material that she was given to work with. Her one big song is painful to listen to. But she definately did the best with what she had and I'm sure the role in someone else's hands would have fallen even flatter.

Al is one of the more adult and enlightened posters we have so please, I think you're the one that needs to calm down just a bit. Orfeh is funny(she was amazing in Trailer Park too) and the *fact* is far more people agree with that statement than not. It's simple mathematics. Of course you're entitiled to your own opinions, we all are but it seemed very obvious that some (esp Joanntom) were solely here TO bash Orfeh and do the reverse shill thing. As for you Carryme, I can't even begin to think what you'd do if anyone DARED say an unkind word about Richard Blake. At least Al and I don't run Orfeh's website, so there is some distance and space and well, objectivity. You and all of the "altar's" do have a nasty habit of flip flopping depending on weather your "friends" spent enough quality time with you at the stage door. My devotion to my fav's isn't based on that.

Oh god, who cares already? Most think she's great, some don't. Same as every other person we do or do not worship here. I don't think this is a long runner anyway, so it might not even come to contract renewals. Who knows and really, this whole nonsensical thread is based on the ridiculous "understudy" thing, yet again. It's all so stupid.

As far as being melodramatic, ruprecht, I stand by my opinion that Al's comments to me did, in fact, leave a nasty stain where intelligent and thoughtful debate should have been. My initial comments giving a semi-critical point of view of a performer -- who is still one of the better things in a lousy show -- certainly did NOT warrant such a response.

Now, onto more important matters...

Really, all one needs to do is read EVERY review (if you have the time or inclination) and it does become a question of mathematics, doesn't mean YOU have to like her or anything or anyone else involved with LB but it does mean a majority of people, critics, fans and nominators loved her performance. I don't know about any other poster but that's all I'M saying.

Foster, I never claimed to be enlightened. That was ruprecht's opinion of AlDente.

No, a series of mostly mixed to negative reviews that singled out one of the only strong points of the show (Orfeh), does NOT mean that a majority of people, critics, fans and nominators loved her performance.

Just think of how outstanding she could have been with better material.

Wait. Maybe I AM enlightened.

I don't know. . . I think Orfeh in SNF was the BEST THING in the show. . . Orfeh in LB was ok; but maybe because I am from Massachusetts originally, and her accent was just a disgrace.

Ruprecht, that was a completely unnecessary attack on me. I wasn't rude in any way to you and in fact, I agreed that she is phenomenal.

I have as much respect for Orfeh as I do for Richard, whether you want to believe that or not. And I do believe that people have said things about Richard on these boards and i have disagreed, but I have not jumped down their throats.

And what was the "altar" joke? Was that a reference to Altar Boyz, a show that I work for? Because I work for them and that was just an attempt at a low blow.

All I Was saying is that everyone is entitled to an opinion,whether or not you agree with it. THe attack on my character and opinions was unnecessary.

Gosh,,,, i have an opinion. Clearly you do too... Leave it at that. Its just very community theatre in attitude. I enjoy reading and listening to everyones opinions; They are all right!
And if you want to upload Orfehs brilliant number about the irishman on your itunes go ahead...Its all right!!

and if you want to recreate the "wash the perm out" scene in your own bathroom.. go ahead. Its your right!!! and its all right!!
But, my opinion is just that my own.. Jen Simmard (sp?) wouldve been funnier..

and I truly loved the first 11 minutes of the show... but Unfortunately the rest sank..
