I heard that they are planning on making Legally Blonde into a play. I loved the movie but not sure how the play would turn out.
haha thats what this is for, its not a play, its a musical

Does someone in the chorus have more chance to make it to Broadway if they are cast in the workshop than the leads?
Not necessarily.
It's all a toss-up. Sometimes, most of the original workshop cast will be retained, but usually there are major changes. I imagine that chorus members are as susceptable (sp?) to this as principals. Perhaps even more so, because if the chorus roles require only background singing and dancing, they would be much easier to replace.
Here we go again!
A musical IS a play.
With music! So yeah, it is play.
ANYWAYS... I dunno, like I know you can't judge something before it's actually been onstage, but honestly I can't see Legally Blonde onstage...I can't explain it...Elle Woods breaking out into song? Singing some heartfelt love ballad to Emmitt?
haha- I hope it's not heartfelt! That would just be weird. "I like love you like so like freaking much you hottie! Like, pucker up!"
thats kind of weird that they'd be having auditions for a workshop at the Hilton Theatre...

Isn't Jerry Mitchell doing the choreography for this? If so, I'd go see it for some dancin'.

This is Jerry Mitchells' Directorial debut. Last I heard, Laura Bell Bundy was the lead in this workshop.

I believe that the Equity guidelines state that if it is an Equity workshop that those involved are suppose to have first right of refusal.

oh, thats cool that kate weatherhead and christian borle did the reading
i really hope these cast members stay with the show (laura bell bunday especially as i said before). i think they all would fit their roles so well, and yeah, laura needs to get back on broadway :)
Yay Julie Garnye! I hope she makes it all the way through to B'way--the girl deserves it.
And they do workshops at the Hilton a lot; the Sweet Charity workshop was there. The rehearsal space up there is just huge and lovely.
For the reading in May Donna Vivino will be playing Enid.
Ana Gasteyer (sp?) as Paulette maybe?
Also why not bring Victor Garber in for Calahan, lol?
Richard Blake could pull of Warner in terms of looks!

I'm going to be in NY then. Any one know if the reading is open to the public? When, where, how much?
