So I was putzin around on *thatsite* and listened to a few songs here and there. I also talked to someone who saw the show and we both had the same question....
Did they lower the key of the majority of the songs in LB in london to suit the mediocre voices of some of the cast. It sure sounds like it!
"mediocre voice" I disagree, sorry but the cast in London really are excellent.
I only noticed two key changes in the 3 times I have seen it so far, and that is the "what about love" section of "Legally Blonde" and also the "If you could give me one second before we all go" at the very end. I also couldn't tell if Serious was in a slightly different key. Think it might be.
I love that the people in America seem to think that the London cast is mediocre when in relaity they are giving brilliant performances......its all that stupid Children In Needs fault haha
I know for a fact Positive has been lowered, but I actually kind of like it in the new key. It gives the scene a darker feel, which is what Elle should actually be feeling after just finding out her man has been taken from her.
I'm not trying to bash the London cast at all. I heard the audiences love it which is great! I just was slightly confused because almost all the songs sounded lower. Even Legally Blonde remix.
I've heard several things from the London cast and am not that impressed. Their voices aren't that great. I can't speak on their performances because I haven't seen it, but from the audio I've heard it sounds awful IMO.
"Somethin's comin', I don't know what it is but it is gonna be great!"
