I doubt there will be a rush in SF. We usually don't see rush on out of town tryouts. The only discounts I have seen are $45 seats for previews.

SeanMartin, are you talking to me? I get confused when we don't address by screennames. And to address one of your points, there are a lot of naked men in Legally Blonde.
The more I think about it, the more I love the second half of the show, starting from about "Chip on Your Shoulder". The beginning needs work, but it's a first preview! Here's hoping they change it to my liking. :)
B3TA07, almost everybody in every theater that I hear speaking during intermission acts as a fun house mirror. I don't know what it is, maybe I have unpopular opinions.
I forgot to ask about rush, but there's nothing on the website.
Why don't people read my signature. 8(

La Bohème and Lennon had rush.
This is my first time posting on this board. However, I have been reading it for quite a few years now. In reguards to the first preview, I can't base an opinion on it until I see it when it hits NY, and only after it's open when all changes have been made. It sounds like it could be a hit, with work. But that's how most shows are.
SeanMartin - As far as your complaint to paying $100+ for a ticket to a "fluff" show, it's called getting cheaper seats.
Anneleigh's headshot is so cute. <3

My dear SeanMartin, I know exactly what you are saying. After one preview you have decided that no matter what they do to the show, it will never be better than "nice"...and what I am saying is that there is no way you could know that. You have no idea what is going to change, so how can you judge yet?
I totally agree with you on the paying money thing though. I don't want to spend $100 on something that no one likes and people keep saying is bad. All I am saying is give it more than one preview to make your decision. Let them make some changes and see what happens....if the reviews get better because of changes you may want to spend the $100. If not, then you at least know you gave the show a chance...
oh, and more naked men never hurt a show...am I right? :) Updated On: 1/24/07 at 02:52 PM

Not to be rude, but what on earth compelled you, after you "have been reading it for quite a few years now" to make the decision to post on BWW regarding a show you haven't even seen? Just curious as to what it was about this thread that made you jump from lurker to poster?

Jerry Mitchell picked some good ones too let me tell you. Jason Patrick Sands is particularly delicious and he is sprinkled throughout. I called him first, step off! :)

hmmmmm...kitty has claws does she?
I am only an hour or so from SF so you should watch yourself darling!
With the comment of Leslie looking old..I always felt that Alanna Ubach who played Serena in the movie looked a lot older...maybe it is the hairstyle.

There's no need for me to explain my reasons for suddenly joining a message board.
Of course there isn't, but it does make you look a bit of a shill. That is all I'm saying. Carry on.
I can't wait to see this on Broadway.
They'll tighten it up, I'm sure.
It will be pretty sweet.
>> After one preview you have decided that no matter what they do to the show, it will never be better than "nice"...
No, Karen, I'm saying that (once again for the comprehension-challenged) what posters on this board have written about it thus far suggests that it's not going to be anything better than "nice". Maybe they'll work wonders between SF and NYC, and it'll become a smash not only on Broadway but in the rep and touring circuits as well. I dont know. But for a hundred bucks, it'd damn well better be something better than just "nice". Broadway, IMHO, should raise the bar beyond anyone's expectations. It should be better than anything else possible in American theatre, because -- in theory, anyway -- it's supposed to hire only the best. The best actors, the best directors, the best designers, the best scripts and scores and lyricists because you're paying top dollar for them. If a show is coming to Broadway, I dont want to hear that it's "nice". I want to hear that it's going to blow my socks off, even in previews, because that's what I'm paying for.
And to the poster who said the solution was "cheaper seats"... yeah, that's the kind of solution I'd expect from some people around here.
>> SeanMartin, are you talking to me?
No, ma'am, to Anastasia_Beaverhausen, who, as we all know, is Karen from Will and Grace when she's stuffing her face with burritos. :)
Don't mean to nitpick doll but what you said initially was:
"from what I see here, all the work needed to correct will result in a show that has the potential to be, at best, nice. Nothing great, nothing special. Just nice."
What you say NOW is:
"what posters on this board have written about it thus far suggests that it's not going to be anything better than "nice"."
"will result" and "suggests," for the comprehension-challenged, are not the same thing.
I gather you not only skim my posts but fail to read everyone else's as well.
I give up. Go eat a burrito, huh?
Well, it's nicer to get comparisons to Hairspray than Wedding Singer.
Legally Blonde already seems to be in much better shape than Wedding Singer.
In Seattle, from what I read, TWS was a mess and no matter what people said, it got cleaned up and made it to Broadway and lasted for nine months.
It seems Legally Blonde is already in much better shape than a lot of other things in their out of town tryouts.
The Pirate Queen is being completely redone.
THe Wedding Singer was completely redone.
Lestat underwent a ton of changes.
So, if all this needs is tweaking and some cuts, I would say that that bodes pretty well for only the FIRST PREVIEW.
Gotta ask, but, how is the BEND AND SNAP song? haha, I had a really strong feeling they'd have a musical number for it
Can't wait to see it this summer
Yes, that's exactly what happened. :)
I get it SeanMartin, you're right and I am wrong. Can we be friends now? Want to share my burrito?
