will it be able to fill the palace?
I believe the seating capacity at the Golden Gate Theatre is around 2300 and from what I could tell from the Orchestra the house was full.
I think it will fit well in the Palace. The set is big and varied and requires a large amount of flyspace. Both the Golden Gate and the Palace are barns but the show is more more big and bold than it is intimate. As far as filling seats goes, that will depend on a lot of things, I believe the Palace has a seating capacity of around 1,750.

Okay, to anyone that's going tonight or tomorrow, if you can check on what the deal is with rush, if they're doing it or not and when... I will be your best friend. I know none of you know me, so you're just going to take my assurances that this is a fantastically good deal. :p
I'm very excited for this show... keep the reviews coming. :)
The only things I can remember that would be considered effects were set and staging based. There was no pyro or anything like that. The effects in this show are more like surprises where people appear here and there, the close of the first act has a fun set based effect. Besides that mostly just bits here and there.

Do they use trap doors or lifts or anyting?
Anyone have a picture of the marquee? just wondering what pictures they're using and stuff.
The sets look great and they do use trap door/lifts quite a lot. I'll get some marquee pics up here soon but they are what you have seen in NY and what you would expect. The Golden Gate has a pretty fugly front and not a very nice marquee space.

I think the critics will treat this as another Hi Fi or Wdding SInger
I hope I am wrong but they will probably deem it not worthy of Broadway

And what are you basing this opinion on?

What the critics will think is usually predictable before the show opens. They don't like The Wedding Singer or High Fidelity type shows, they like shows more like Grey Gardens and Avenue Q.
Does anyone know if there is limted veiw from certain seats. I have comp tickets for tomorrow's performance, but dont know for sure where I am seating and was curious if it is hard to see the show or effects or whatever from certain seats?
THANKS!

RE: Limited view, there is really nothing obstructive in the set so I can't imagine why any seats would have limited views. I know the balcony level there is pretty high so that might suck but you should be able to see everything from everywhere. Have fun and be sure to let us know what you think.
Thanks to all you guys who have posted on here for your reviews etc.
Im in the UK so we obviously wont hear anything about this shows try out so this is the only way i can get the scoop and as per usual you dont let me down.
Im going to be in NY for 2 weeks in may and was thinking about going to see it(i always have to see at least 1 fluff show LOVED the wedding singer so much fun haha)

Was Nikki Snelson in this production? no one has mentioned her, but there were pics early on of her with laura belle in the cast!
I think that like many have said you can't really judge how well it will fair based on ONE PREVIEW. As many pointed out shows change alot coming into NY from out of town. I also am a fan of HAIRSPRAY and if LEGALLY BLONDE is alot like HAIRSPRAY, I'll love it. {I am currently wearing a HAIRSPRAY t-shirt, and I enjoy shows of such nature.}

I mentioned Nikki! She sings while JUMPING ROPE it's absolutely insane. Her role is kind of nothing, though, just like it was in the movie (though she's way better than Ali Larter).

Again, what video are we talking about?

The site that must not be named has a CBS news story up with some clips from the show... don't know if that's it.
