Legally Blonde Rush Problems (again)

Some theaters do have a rush regardless of status, although MOST are student rush. I don't get why they would keep HS kids from rushing. Just because they still live at home, doesn't mean they have unlimited funds.
Perhaps they are trying to discourage too many unaccompanied teenagers? Has there been any talk about innappropriate behaviour?

There hasn't been talk of behavor that is out of line in any shape or form. The only thing that I can think of that would have them change thier policy is that there might have been trouble with the people who camped out to see something like Haven going on as Elle. That could have cause some problme for people who went there as early as they could and did the smart thing and not camp out.
Maybe that this has not been the first time that a problme like this has come up and they thought that maybe college students would have more sense then to camp out in the middle of times square for something like the Legally Blonde rush.
Keep in mind that I am just flat out guessing and that I have no actual idea.
In any event I can understand having a sutdent rush or a lotto as oppose to a general rush because camping out can cause problmes. That is why Rent all those years back changed from a line to a lotto because camping out caused way to many problems for a lot of people. One thing I can't understand is why they would limit to just college students. I remember trying to rush Talk Radio and I couldn't because it was just for college students and they were a bitch about that fact. I couldn't afford to see it any other way then rush. Luckly my grandmother wanted to see it so I saw it with her. But, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have been able to see the show.

There's definitely been inappropriate behavior at Blonde, I've witnessed awful, immature, and downright disrespectful behavior from audience members who will remain nameless in the front row. However, limiting the rush to college students doesn't solve that problem, since most of them ARE college students.
If the behavioral issues from audience members is what sparked this, the change in the rush policy is a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I would think college kids are MORE likely than HS kids to be the one camping out. I would HOPE most HS parents wouldn't allow it.

Posted: 4/26/08 at 11:35pmIf the problem was people camping out and causing problems at Times Square they should just switch to lotto. If the problem is inappropriate behavior in the theatre then they should just instruct their ushers to be stricter against people acting in these manners. Restricting their rush is only going to further reduce their sales.

Maybe if there weren't any long drawn out threads about "Rush Drama" and maybe if the immaturity of many Legally Blonde rushers ended then this wouldn't have happened.
This is why they stopped rush at A Chorus Line, all the drama involved with it.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 9:18amMaybe it's as simple as the Nederlanders not wanting to get sued if something were to happen to some teen, as a result of them feeling the need to camp outside all night to get a ticket to see an understudy to go on. Also maybe people shouldn't air all their gripes on a public message board either. There's a thought.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 9:26amThat's probably the most valid reason Foster but what fun would it be for the posters to not somehow make it about them? Maybe the BO people should have been a bit less lax to begin with. There's a thought.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 9:29amSo, since my college ID doesn't have a date on it, can I print out my current roster to prove that I am indeed in college? This new rule seems silly; many colleges don't put dates on their IDs.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 9:29amIs there that much camping out, really? I thought it only happened in rare circumstances, like someone's last show or you know who going on as Elle.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 9:59amActually, DidYouReallyHearMe, ACL has student rush. They used to have a lotto and they got rid of it because people were unhappy that cast members were playing and winning lotto fairly often. It didn't really have to do with poor fan behavior at rush/lotto.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 10:08amYes, winter_sky, but the drama played out here on this board, with all kinds of ridiculous claims from both sides. My favorite was the poster who claimed that a cast member "wore a disguise" to enter the lottery.

It only takes one person and one unfortunate incident to cause a big headache for the Nederlanders so even if it was "just someone's last show, or you know someone's going on as Elle", I see why they're doing it. This is just speculation on my part but it makes sense.

Maybe they took a look at the people who were causing trouble in the rush line and by looking at them assumed that they were in high school thus changing the policy.
I still think that this has nothing to do with the drama that unfolded over A Chorus Line's lotto drama. I think that that had to do with people getting pissed off that actors were entering their names in it.
This has to do with people camping out and causing a headache for the people running the thing. I think that if they were smart they would get rid of any sort of student rush and make it a lotto. That way everyone gets an equal shot at a front row ticket and there won't be any of this drama.

Posted: 4/27/08 at 2:35pmI think the lotto is just a better system in general. There is no camping out, or even getting to the box office at all hours of the morning. Anyone can do it, and its completely by chance. I'm sure there are some people who draw names unfairly, but I hope that its not the norm.

There is rush for "A Chorus Line."
The situation with their lotto was something completely different. Cast members were assisting their friends, which is fine. However, instead of the people running the lotto saying "There are only 18 seats available today" or whatever (since the lotto was subject to availability anyway), they would make everyone wait outside while the names were being drawn.

I have to say I just saw this show on Sunday and I loved it. I was going into it unsure but I thought it was great. Loved the music and I fell in love with Christian Borle! He played Emmett amazing. I wanted to rush this play with my friend to take her and I now see that we need updated ID's so I will have to go get a new sticker. I wanted to know if anyone knew of a good day that would not be as croweded. Im assuming that any weekday is better then the weekend but is there a specific day that is less croweded then another? I also noticed that many of you say you get there really early. What do you think the latest I can get there is to get tickets? Its hard for me to get into the city so early and then sucks to have to sit around till the showing especially if its at 8. But If thats the only way then I guess thats what I will do because $26 or what ever it is tickets you cant beat. One more question is where are the rush seats? is it anywhere or the front row?
Sorry for so many questions but I never did the rush before so I want to make sure I know what I am doing! haha Thanks :)
