that's really ridiculous- are they trying to get this show to close?

I heard the same thing. Since their target demographic is um...high-school kids, shouldn't they rethink that policy?
Seems like a pretty dumb move on the part of the box office, but I guess they've been known to make those in the past.
With their grosses, they should be giving tickets away.

This show will be gone by the fall. They don't market it well at all.

I rushed on Thursday without problems and my ID doesn't have a date on it...

I think it is that bad.
Keep in mind that thier core audience members are high schoolers and they are loosing their rush ticket buyers by changing it to college only.
I was at the box office trying to see what shows I could get a ticket to wednesday night. The sign in the box office that had said how rush worked used to say that you just needed a student ID but now it said college ID.
I don't know why they changed it. But, I did ask the guy at the box office before I showed him my ID and before he knew that I was still in high school. He had said that they sold out of thier entier rush seats for that performance.

OK doesn't the college ID thing make sense?
Here in the UK i know people who left College an University years ago and are still using their cards to get discounts etc as it didnt have a date on
Its to stop people been dishonest that cards are reissued each year with the dates on

^ Except very few schools reissue the cards every year. Most have a validation sticker of some sort with the year or term on it. The cost (both in supplies and people hours) would not be cheap to reissue CARDS every year.

Right. If they're going to having this kind of restriction, they shouldn't be requiring cards that are re-issued every year, but either validation stickers by the year, or an expiration date printed on the card. They wouldn't be the first show to be strict about requiring one of those two things, but asking for a new card for every year is unrealistic.

My college has that. Each semester, you have to go to the student activities office and present your schedule and they add the sticker to the back of your id.

My school doesn't give new ids every year. Nor does it put date stickers on it. Nothing I can do about that. I can't go to the University and ask them to change their policy because I want to see Legally Blonde. That is absolutely ridiculous.

So Legally Blonde's target audience is high school; like 13-18, right? And now the target audience can't even rush to get a ticket? HA. A+ for the genius's who thought of this idea.
They're digging their own grave. They definitely want the show closed so they are doing everything they can to close it.

Oh god, this is insane.
I am still gonna try and rush it in a week and a half when I'm up there.

You know, the one thing I've never understood about rush is why it only applies to students.
If they think students have trouble paying for tickets, imagine how their parents who are paying for their children's bills, their own bills, and then try to get some money to go to New York must feel!
Of course I know many students pay their own bills, but rush should really be open to anyone.

They sometimes are rough when it comes to the ID policy. Out of the five times I've seen the show, I've been ID'ed twice. When you go to rush, the very large scary rush man is very stern and strict so you don't mess with him.

I wish rush was that easy, Alex.
But it's not.
I went during the summer and had to sit outside from 6 to 10 just to get tickets and it was very very unseasonably cold that day.

3 times I rushed
8- 10 x 2
and then 7 - 12 once.
it's not a fun experience but worth front row- but if they're going to be tools about it..

It's just the blonde box office lady that's strict about IDs. This is not a new thing...it's been going on for a while. The blonde lady is the one that is the student ID Nazi. If you can try to wait for the other box office person. Just let the people behind you cut you or something. If you go to anyone but the blonde lady, you won't have an issue. She isn't always there either so you may get lucky and go on a day when she's not working.

That's not true, HBG, we're talking about an actual change in the policy as stated on the signs in the lobby. They now say "College/University ID Only" on them, and ALL members of the box office staff adhere to this new policy, I'm sure, since it's actually up for viewing in the lobby. Apparently, they now require valid, dated college identification.
The truth to this isn't what's up for debate, the policy has in fact changed.

Oh bummer. I used to love that in the States I could literally give them my bus pass or driver's liscence (it has pictures of cars on it...) and say it's my student ID and they always ALWAYS took it for anything....
