I don't care if Elle is covered in pink, but that outfit is hideous—especially the boots.

D.B. does look kind of old for Emmett, but I really enjoyed him in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, so it's all good. Besides, Christian Borle wasn't the right age, either. Besides, neither of the Elle understudies can legally drink, and the character is 25 by the end of the show.

Sondheimgeek, I don't understand your confusion that someone could like some costume changes and criticize others. If you noticed, I was commenting on what changes fit the show. The Obama shirt fits Enid's character and the show's general attempt to ride current pop culture. The decision to dress Elle in even more pink doesn't fit with her character - a smart, hip fashion major. It just looks sloppy.

HumATune, I agree about the boots. They look like something from Hot Topic.

I like Elle's all pink - it makes her look even more out of place at Harvard. I didn't think Warner looked dweeby onstage, but I'm not crazy about how he looks in the picture. Lauren as the stenographer is a bit too attractive, but it's more shy and scared than nerdy and funny looking. It works, especially in "There! Right There!" I loved the costumes, except I thought Paulette's top was a bit too attractive for her first outfit. I like how in the Broadway show, Paulette gradually wears more revealing clothes as her confidence grows. I didn't notice the Obama shirt but Gretchen Burghardt is ADORABLE!

Paulette always wears pretty revealing outfits in the broadway show. Even in Ireland I always am worried that we're going to see her underwear when she sits down to talk to Elle. I kinda thought that was odd for the character because she's supposed to be awkward and shy and not understand why guys would like her....well you look pretty fierce in that miniskirt, Paulette.

Hm, I always felt Paulette's costumes were supposed to suggest her as a bit clueless and tacky, but in an endearing way.

yep I've also thought paulette's costumes are supposed to suggest that she's a little outdated and tacky. I think NJJ's look great.

as for the idea that Lauren looks too hot to sing about being alone with her cat, well, sometimes the hottest girls are the craziest!!! I have one friend who is smokin but insane and remains single (with a cat - haha!) for that very reason!
(but lauren does look very pretty!!)

I agree with the above 2 comments, but I feel like Orfeh's outfits go from a bit dumpy and a little revealing to actually looking quite attractive, with a hint of kookiness. There's an odd evolution, or maybe I'm reading too much into it. I felt like NJJ's first out was a lot like Orfeh's second, and almost wanted dumpier if that makes sense.

In case any one was wondering how "so much better" on tour was.here is a pic i made up. the bridge doesnt rise at the end.sorry elle looks demented.

Ok I guessed that it probably didn't rise. I still don't get why they use a bag for the S. They have enough people for it. 5 female ensemble, PMS, and Brooke. So that's 9 people which happens to be the number of letters in Elle Woods

It looked like they ahd a few less Delta Nus on Broadway. Either way, for all of the hullaballoo, the bag was pretty darn cute. The "D" Delta Nu head this "Oh yea!" look and pulled it up.

I wonder what will happen if there's lots of illness and they're down cast members even withe swings? (That happens to every compnay sooner or later.) Will they get guys in drag for "So Much Better" or will they spell "Elle W" instead?

I am guessing the tour rules are the same as the Broadway rules (?), in which case Brooke's not allowed to be in that number- some kinda equity thing. Snelson did it a small number of times on Broadway when they were short, the only time I saw her do it was a night that they were *so* short of females that they also had Rusty in a wig up there spelling out the Elle Woods.

I saw the show last nite and Brooke is in "So Much Better." The girl that is missing is Enid because she does the "mad props" thing with Elle right before the greek chorus so she doesnt have enough time to change.on broadway they put a guy in drag if theyre arent enough girls. But the bag sounds cheap but it was actually really cute. the girl who plays the judge picks it up and she acts like she forgets to pick it up and she gave the audience the look like "hold on a sec" and then picks it up and turns it around.

Theminutepast, what I was saying was that the t-shirt fits Enid's character just like the pink fits Elle's character. She's not completely pink the entire show, but there are of course hints of pink in all of her outfits. I'm assuming you were referring to the Harvard pink outfit that she wears when she first enters. Although a pair of blue jeans might've made it look slightly better, she stood out immensely and gave the right impression. Yes, she could've used a little less pink, but it emphasized her character. That was all they were trying to do.

The photos look really good, so glad to see Coleen Sexton not understudying, though she deserves a bigger role. And she looks in better shape than she did in 2001, a la Jekyll & Hyde. She looks awesome.

Can someone please explain what Equity circumstances would prevent someone from being in a certain number? Does it have to do with amount of time onstage?

The actress playing Brooke is on a principle contract.

There is a limit to how many ensemble roles she can perform before she must be downgraded to an ensemble contract, which is why there was all that hoopla with Equity during the instance in the Broadway company last year when all the female swings were on and Nikki Snelson performed part of a chorus track not provided for by her normal contract in addition to playing the role of Brooke.

What I just want to know is how come in San Fransisco Nikki Snelson had a complete ensemble track in Act 1 but when they moved to Broadway it was just cut down to Omigod You Guys. Anyone know why this happened?
