AnnaK, you just seem to have a big grudge against this show and/or people in it. There are many many theatergoers (myself included) who are repeat visitors for one reason or another, so you're wrong.

Most US cities have some amazing theatres with capacities upwards of 2000 going up to 5000 in the case of some of the old Fox Theatres like in Detroit
I'm not sure I'd use the word "amazing." Most of them are awful places to see theatre once you get past the front orchestra or the front of the mezzanine. The Fox in St Louis is a barn with a zillion seats and tiny little stage. Shows just get swallowed up there.
Wicked have you seen Legally Blonde ???
It's a great show, flawed in places but what musical isnt lol Bring it to London
all of the comments about "it's the $$ that matters" and "it's a big theater so 80% is still really good" are true....BUT what people aren't taking into account are the show's running costs AND the theater's rental fee (which, because it's a bigger theater, are probably bigger). I dunno, sorry to be a pesimist (sp?), but I dont' think it's gonna run as long as some people think.
SADM2 i didnt make the figures up Ok. If you look on 3 or 4 different sites you get different figures for every theatre. I did sya that they may change and they do depending on orchestra useage and sound desks etc. I didnt even mention stage sizes did i! Dont be picky as i said.
wait song and dance man are you talking to me
or the other wicked
because i have seen the show 4 times
My mate SADM2 is talking to me. Ive not seen LB but would like to because i cant get into enjoying the CD. You obviously like it.

LB's running costs are about $675,000, so it's doing just fine in terms of grosses.

You're right. I have a huge grudge because it's one of my favorite movies and the musical got it all wrong. It's miscast in most, if not all characters and it's music and randomness do not add up to a show that comes close to how good the movie is. But it's so strange that people sign up to discuss Broadway shows and don't like it when someone has an opinion that differs from theirs. Re-read my post again. I said it has its fanbase. Clearly, if you've seen it again, you are part of the fanbase. I said it's not good enough to appeal to the general non-theatre-loving public. Why do you think Wicked is doing so well? People go again and again to see it even if they are not fans of Broadway. Then they tell their friends who go see it.
I'm just saying.
Im gonna back you up on that Anna.

AnnaK and WickedBoy2, everyone has their own taste... every time I've been at Blonde, I've heard the 298347923487 person line for the ladies room buzzing about how cute the show is, how funny so-and-so is, etc. If you're a huge fan of the movie, there's a lot different about the musical and the same way Harry Potter fans take issue with the movies, I would expect you to take issue with the musical. I liked the movie too, but I personally enjoy the changes they've made for the stage version. As for the show being "not good" and "miscast," those are such broad terms without any real information...
But back on topic: 80% capacity, no TKTS and grossing over/around a million... I don't know, but that sounds like they're doing pretty okay to me...
But there it is. You agreed that everyone has their own opinion. To say that my opinion which is that it is not a good show and miscast is speaking in broad terms without any real information doesn't make sense. What more information do I need? I've seen the show twice, I know the show, I don't like the show. I don't think it's good, and I do think it is miscast. I'm not saying others are strange or stupid if they like the show. Nothing even close to that. You say everyone has their own taste and I'm agreeing with you. But saying everyone has their own taste but dismissing my opinion is simply hypocritical. Sorry.

I didn't say your opinion was wrong, AnnaK, but you're saying that the show being "not good" and "miscast" are the reasons that it fails to appeal to the general public.
I said it's not good enough to appeal to the general non-theatre-loving public.
All I was saying is that those are kind of empty terms on which to try to make a point. They're perfectly valid as personal opinions, but not particularly so as a persuasive argument.
But that's just my opinion. We're throwing around ideas, you know? None of us know for sure how long it will last. Personally, I don't think it's good enough. Maybe it is, but I just don't think so. I wasn't trying to declare anything, but based on reviews and people who I've talked to (both theatre loving and non-theatre loving) I wouldn't expect it to last long. I was just throwing the possibility out there.
annak is totally entitled to his opinion without been jumped on.I personally Love the movie and think they have got the stage show spot on (and believe me i was ready to hate this show). The act 1 finale still gets me and send shivers down my spine.
Wickedboy 2 i love you but you have to watch a show before you can comment on it in my opinion.
'Just dont send it to London' was a light hearted quip. Ive not seen the show but my comment came from trying to listen to the cd a few times and i just find it rather weak and bubble gummy. Ive seen a lot of the DVD that smeone showed me-looks really fab! Im in NY in 2 weeks and still cant decide weather to see it. If i get comps yes i'll go but theres a lot more just above it on my list just now. I dont comment on things i havent seen in a way most do on here but my comment was just as i explained.
AnnaK, it's your tone, you just seem alittle more angry than any theatergoer who doesn't like a show needs be. That's all. And as I and many others said on the mysteriously deleted thread, some of the CAST is about the only thing that's pretty much without flaw in this show. I've seen it many times, for many reasons, do I think it's going to run for years, absolutely not (I was there last week and the balcony was completely empty on a weekend matinee), do I think it has problems, yes but none of these topics make me "angry" and there's the difference. It's not about stifling your right to an opinion, it's about how you go about stating it.
ok so blonde has some flaws but in my opinion so do most musicals lol
There is no need to take my opinion so seriously. I'm not ANGRY. It doesn't hurt my feelings. I just don't like the show. I go about stating it in no angry way...I just say my opinion and people take it personally. I'm not saying you in particular, but that is certainly a theme on BWW.
Thank you songanddanceman

If a show is grossing almost a million dollars every week, I think it's safe to say the "general public" finds the show just fine.
I said I thought that it wouldn't appeal enough to last a long time. I'm not saying it's doing badly now and everyone isn't enjoying it. I don't see it running for a long time. Maybe it will run for 10 years. I don't know. I'm just saying.
I really don't have any desire to see this show, especially now that Leslie Kritzer has left. By the way, who took her place?
Tracy Jai Edwards and she is fabulous in the role.
Thesbijean, do you have a link, or proof of that number? A Show's running cost is usually a highly guarded secret, as I've heard.
