Unfortunately in the past few seasons we have seen shows the hope to tell a story about someone famous, important, groundbreaking, Elvis, BoyGeorge, John Lennon. Although i wont comment on the All Shook UP and Taboo, i want to share thoughts about Lennon which I saw this evening. Why..for several reasons, but the most being because the piece has a life.

I admit to not knowing alot about john lennon and really only liking one of the songs i do know. But tonight i got a glimpse at a very real person in a very real life.

This however was not the first act. The first act kept showing me john lennons..and showing me his life...and showing me the career..frankly and E True Hollywood story..with live music.

But if you stick it out......the second act evolved...and in such a way that was suprising and satisfying. The show became about John Lennon..himself, his fears, his loves, his hates..the man...
it took the whole first act and about 10 minutes of the second act..but they got there...four john lennons...did blend into one man
and in a beautiful moment recalled about john lennon's death by actor chuck cooper...he asks..Do you know who you are
and Lennon replied. Yea.

I urge everyone to encourage this show..encourage them to refocus tell me about john.

And give a huge applause to the cast who doing some really embarrassing gimmicky moments in the first act...sang their hearts out and believed what they were doing.

The lesson for actors..dont act about someone..become them..live them..whether it be Regina in Little Foxes to Katherine Hepburn...be.
Directors....listen to your material. listen to the message..if this director listens just a ittle closer..he might just get it.

bravo to the show...i hope it runs another four months or more.

Thank you so much for posting this. I think it could sway a lot of people who are on the fence about this show.

I agree with what you've said (and about that final monologue of Chuck's as a police officer recounting that night at the Dakota... it was compelling and profound. So simple, and remarkably written... powerful.)

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Have you seen All Shook Up? It definitely does not attempt to be a story about Elvis himself.

i was almost crying at the end and that last line gave me shivers. i liked lennon and i hope it makes it longer than people say it will. i wish all the naysayers who havent seen it would just go once and then form an opinion. but, hey, thats just me
