YES! This means it's less likely to close before I see it in September now.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 4:32pmThey really should have made these changes when they got horrible reviews in SF, but at least they are trying. I hope all turns out well with the show.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 4:37pmI have lurked here for a good while, enjoying reading the various posts. I absolutely love this show and will be heartbroken if it doesn't make it. I got the chance to see it last week and was thrilled. I had read some of the negative comments here and wasn't sure quite what to expect. The cast were all equally amazing and talented, wonderful music. In fact I never liked John Lennon's music quite so much until I heard it in this show sung by Broadway pros. Hopefully the show will still go on and things will work out. Who would want a dark theater on Broadway anyway???

Posted: 7/27/05 at 4:38pmI'd rather see a dark theater with a telecharge marquee up than have a second-rate show like....Good Vibrations....play in it.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 4:45pmThose who truly love theater and don't post just to bash it wouldn't want a dark theater. Out of work actors, musicians, techies, etc. Why does there seem to be a certain sarcastic joy on this forum in a show not doing well? Am I missing something here, perhaps sour grapes?

Well, the theatre wouldn't stay dark. I commented on this in another thread, but there are already other musicals interested in the Broadhurst, should Lennon fail to make it.
That said, I hope the show makes the necessary changes in previews to get the reviews that will up its box office.

Posted: 7/27/05 at 4:56pmThe question I have is, Does this make it look like they have more problems than they really do? This can't be a good thing. And does this ever work? It seems this is the same move GV made and it doomed them! The show is /was in pretty good shape, I just think this may negatively impact the show. Critics are going to say the hastily slapped the new ending together in a week... This sucks!!!

Well, some shows pull it together during previews. PASSION being one example that sticks out in my mind. Of course, you had the best in the business working on that show, but it did improve.
A lot of shows delay opening by a week or so. It's not really a big deal. Now if LENNON pulls a SARAVA, where they delay opening for months on end, you'll know the show is in trouble.

Marguerite,
From the Playbill link luvtheEmcee posted:

So why did you feel the need to say that twice??? I love the show and hope everything works out ok. No need to bash Lennon just for the heck of it.
